I was NOT able to clean it. Same egg. 180 turn.First off, sorry for your loss.
Are they getting enough calcium?
What do you feed them?
Has there been any sort of stress?
It's weird that you were able to clean it off, otherwise I would say the pigment on the egg was a little off. Sometimes chickens just have a malfunction on the egg process and come up with odd eggs.
OK. that may explain the extremely soft shell on the other egg. This time of year weird eggs are very common. I got one today that looked and felt fine but when peeled the shell had little to no integrity and it was nearly chocolate brown normally nearly pink. Just wintertime weirdness.
Thanks for the reply and sorry for the confusion.Oh, I got confused with the 2 photos. I though it was the before and after wash. :/
@Chickassan is right, at this time of year eggs come out looking weird.
Yes, it does.https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/common-egg-quality-problems.65923/
I refer to this when I see weirdness in the eggs.
I hope it helps you too.
