My two wheaten marans are doing great (I think)but we lost our silkie Greycloud. :(
That being said...
I recently came across this and was wondering if I should be concerned for my bird? Is the egg safe to eat? Along side of this egg I found a VERY soft shelled egg. Im

First off, sorry for your loss.

Are they getting enough calcium?

What do you feed them?

Has there been any sort of stress?

It's weird that you were able to clean it off, otherwise I would say the pigment on the egg was a little off. Sometimes chickens just have a malfunction on the egg process and come up with odd eggs.

Maybe feed the eggshells separately than mixed into their feed. That way they can eat it when they want or need to. I just keep a small dish of eggshell and oyster shell in their run area. When they empty it, I refill it - which isn’t often.
