I have gotten 11 eggs today so far... and what looks to be another broken one in the nest because it was a sticky mess! I took Abby (the 3 year old) with me to gather eggs at lunch time after we put the baby down for a nap. She loved it, and was counting the eggs as she put them in the bucket! I guess I'm going to have to let her do that more often! Oh, and I also figured out who is laying the cream colored egg! It is Olive! I was told that she laid an olive colored egg, but I caught her laying this morning and saw it drop! I could have caught it, but didn't. That clears up one mystery!

Olive= cream colored egg!

Yeah, it's raining here and we have a tornado watch!!!! I'm bummed cause I wanted to meet my mom, sister, niece and nephew for dinner. I don't mind driving in rain but not a fan of heavy storms... So I think I'll keep my butt home. Only problem is we have no back up plan for dinner. Pizza??? Sure sounds yummy!!!

the girls set a 2014 laying record! 13 Eggs today!

the yard looks like half lake, half ice rink. and yet, I had no problems getting around... then I come in, put Chester outside, dashed upstairs to put some pajama bottoms on...(I like to be comfy and soft) and Ruby followed me up. I said No no... as she wanted to get up in bed... we need to go back down and let Chester in... I've noticed she has a cataract forming in just one eye, and she's been having a bit of trouble coming downstairs... so I scooped her up and we started down together... I got 4 steps down and slipped. bounced down the next 8 steps on my left butt cheek. smashed my elbow on each step as well, and got my ribs for good measure. Ruby was safe. I took the entire impact. nothing is broken. but wow I am sore! sure to be purple in the morning.
I forced myself to get up immediately, got a big drink of water, drank half right away and drank the other half with an anti-inflammatory & a muscle relaxer. Knowing that I would need to get outside within an hour or so to take care of the flock, I forced myself out right then. the store bought coop was like a mini-wading pool, so I had to get to the back garage and get straw to put down... got water off the taro roof of the bachelor pens, gave everyone a snack and collected the eggs. I didn't get any more from the Fosters. wouldn't that have been nice...? I would have hit 14 or 15... ah well... there is always tomorrow.

anyway, my "love interest" called, and I must have sounded cruddy... so he's coming over. I told him not to, that I would be lousy company and would be better off sleeping, and he said he wasn't coming for "company", that the dogs will need to go out and I shouldn't push it. (oh great... so I had to get up again, and do the dishes, scoop the cat litter, take out the trash {I had fish last night and the trash is kinda stinky...} and wash today's very muddy eggs)

Cheeka -Awe sounds like a nice guy!!!!! And he's right it'll be nice to have someone to help so you can stay and relax in the couch. Tho a walk every few hrs could help keep you loose.

Isn't it funny tho how we feel the need to clean like that!!!

On a related cleaning note I came home yesterday at lunch to work from home for the rest of the day and found the DH cleaning. Now I did yell at him the other day that while he's on a sabbatical from work due to weather it would be nice if he could help out... Otherwise I was hiring a housekeeper.

Anyway he did 6 loads of laundry (all the stuff I never seem to get to), wielded a toilet brush and even removed the glass top of the coffee table to clean the trapped crumbs. And then he made dinner!!!
