I couldn't light a jar candle. I lit a tissue, and put it in the jar. It fell out, and I juggled it. I kept trying to blow it out, but it wasn't working. It fell on the floor, and I couldn't find anything to suffocate it/beat it out. I have never been so glad that I didn't finish my coffee! The carpet isn't too bad.
In hindsight, I could have tossed the tissue back in the jar. It was a bit hard to think of that when I was worried about burning my hand.

Mortie, you are worried too much about that spike. I seriously doubt it will be a problem.

He arrived safely after a 1 hr delay. And I didn't think to check online (I was too excited). But we wasted some time at a local Petsmart and got home about 10 min ago.

Mortise he's a Great Pyrenees.

You're probably right...but at least it gives me something to joke about while I wait.

I have a recent home destruction story, wanna hear it?

Ok so I use a reverse osmosis filter for the water that goes into my aquarium.
That's not a great picture of it but you get the idea....

Anyway, we plumbed that in using a regular old Y splitter for a garden hose where the washing machine is hooked up in our first floor laundry. When I want to make water I just turn that side on, when I am done, I turn it off. Super. Used it for over 18 months with no problems.

A week ago when I was shutting it off (this is an acrobatic feat mind you...you have to lean waaaaay over the washing machine to reach it and blindly shut it off) it broke and water sprayed ALL OVER my laundry room. It took me maybe 10 seconds to shut the valve off and in that time I would guess about a gallon or so came out. It was not enough to go through into the basement, but it was enough to make a heck of a mess and make me a little nervous where it got the outlet and stuff wet.

We bought a new Y splitter, exactly the same and installed it, thinking that was a fluke. And you already see where this is going, don't you?

A couple nights ago, I was chillin at my computer and my kids were milling around, getting ready for bed when I hear water running. I thought it was someone brushing their teeth or something but it didn't take long for my brain to engage and realize that was not a normal sound. I got up and ran into the laundry room to find water spraying all over AGAIN. This time no one touched the stupid thing! I shut off the valve again but this time it had run a lot longer and a lot more water had spilled. It was raining in the basement. I had the kids bring me ALLLLLLLL the towels in the house, clean, dirty, or otherwise. They hardly made a dent.

I can't help but wonder: What if we hadn't been home?!

I don't even know what we're going to do now....I can't do without RO water but I can't have this either! My living room is covered in sewing scraps because a lot of the water raining down in the basement went into the bin where I keep them. Oy,

OH NO!!!!!!!

dang mortie! that stinks! old BH (if you've read that far...) has aquariums - many many many tanks, and uses RO, but keeps his under the sink in the kitchen, and one of his best friends is a plumber... no cheesy parts. he never had a problem... sounds like a pressure issue anyway, so you need plumbers tape...metal valves, and flex pipe, that stuff will swell to the size of a softball and not split. good luck! water is so invasive and difficult, I have a huge wet/dry vac on hand because the upstairs bathroom sink has been ripped off the wall on 3 separate occasions, causing major mess. it has no legs... mounted on bitty wall brackets, and it used to have stiff metal pipes with NO shut off valves for the hot and cold...

the first time it got ripped off, the pipes were still usable, so I installed shut off valves. the second time it happened, I installed flex pipe... and looked for legs that I could put underneath for support. no luck. the third time it "fell" off, it just hit the floor. the flex pipes flexed, no water leaked and thankfully, the sink itself didn't break. I don't let guests use that bathroom anymore. the room is too small and it's too tempting for people to grab the sink and hoist themselves off the jon...which is what pulls it off the wall. I do let Mylee use that bathroom tho'. she likes it because it's small, like her.
