MC, glad you didn't seriously flambe' your carpet. Or your hand.
Mortie, a similar thing happened to my sister in law, and she wasn't home. Her husband passed several months ago and she came out to California for an extended visit (6 weeks). We she got home, she had the unpleasant surprise of finding a broken, leaking pipe in the bathroom. Caused some serious damage, and the whole bathroom and adjoining walls and floors had to be replaced. Mucho $$$
She and her husband used to travel extensively during hot Phoenix summers. Now it's all on her to remember to shut off the water to the house.
Never forget again!
CLindz, congrats on your new furry baby! Take tons of pics, they grow fast.
The rain has let up for now. Southern California got most of this storm, which they badly needed. We got a decent amount, but it seemed to come all at once. Still more showers expected next week. Yay. Anything so this will not be the driest year in history. So glad we don't have the super cold temps like so many of you. Keep warm!
Only 3 eggs today. For some reason this was a long week and I'm glad it's over. The best news came yesterday. My best friend, from like 4th grade, was diagnosed with a carcinoid tumor a few week ago. Unspeakably bad news, but research she did showed that the test results could be skewed by a medication she was taking. She stopped the meds, retested, and the results were negative! Huge relief. I would not have been ready for that. Like a sister to me. Luckily she is a nurse and filled the gaps in the doctor's knowledge. Odd thing is her husband went through the same thing a year ago. Diagnosed with bone marrow cancer, not curable except through difficult bone marrow transplant. She found an obscure study showing a certain cholesterol medication can cause a false positive test, which ended up being the culprit (much to the oncologist's surprise). No cancer, but it was several nightmarish months before they found out. Hug your loved ones, you just never know.
