Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

my little end of day sitters were either faking or they decided to hold it til morning. I had no more eggs today, so 12 total. lowest egg count day in March to date. this is from the other day, can't believe I spaced out posting it here! got a good still pic of lil unnamed Foster before I shot the video.
My SS killed a mouse the other day. DH and I were so shocked.

I am not surprised since she lays once a year!

ahhh sunshine! it was only 20° but no wind, tomorrow should be warmer, at least in the 30's...I have 12 Eggs so far, still a few girls sitting, so I will head back out by 5:30 to check for more. slept crappy again last night, not sure why this time, just overtired maybe?
Happy group! Hope you get good rest and feel better soon.

I sure have seen a lot of that this last year!

(I hate daylight saving time. especially Spring forward, I love the evening light, but I feel sickish for like 2 weeks.)
It really throws my DH off, he hates it!

24 little egg machines hatched so far, several more to go! I set 61 eggs.

I had to pull out the dry babies, they were trampling the other chicks still hatching.
One was put back into the bator (right center) he was not dry enough yet.

I used a 10 gallon aquarium for a brooder until they get their land legs.

We are at about 50% of normal for rain at this point. North of us got a bit more, and south of San Francisco got less. Put a dent in the drought, but still don't think the farmers are in very good shape.

We should start a petition to END DAYLIGHT SAVINGS. Because it's stooopid!

Hands off my circadian rhythm!! (Catchy slogan, huh?) We have family in both Hawaii and Arizona, so they don't experience the joy of DLS and feel very superior.

Very cute little quail. 61 is a lot!! How long do they lay? They start so early, but do they burn out early too?

Thanks! Its just been crazy here. Mom is in PT for her knee. We are still waiting for Dads heart valve so he can have surgery..
Oldest DD is going thru a terribly hard time financially, and had to go bankrupt

. So we worked thru all the steps to get that done.
And its tax time.. I do everyone's taxes (family only) and I was buried this year. Only have my parents left now.
Its the hardest since they are retired, and all the deducts for medical. We have a few more items, like charity to collect.
DST, I hate it~AGREED! Up til just a few years ago, most of Indiana didn't do it either.
The Governor decided we needed to be matched to the other states, and implemented it

.
Up till then, I think it was just 2 counties that did it. Ugh! it really messes with me and my daily routine

Ha! See? I don't even know it's real name. DST (Don't Shift Time) It's stooopid!

Wow, that sure is great of you to help everyone with their taxes. And so early too. We don't seem to get all of our statements until mid-March. Excuses excuses... What are deadlines for, if not to be met at the very last moment?

Thanks! April 15th or if it falls on the weekend the following Monday is the deadline.
2 years is supposed to be the longest the quail will lay. Longevity is short with them.

We use any of the small eggs for eating. 12 gram and up get hatched if I have room.
They are just an amazing yummy table bird too. DH doesn't like "dark meat" but enjoyed them a lot!
They are a lot like pheasant or turkey in flavor. I really love the chicks, they all just crowd up to sit on your hands.
Adorable babies

They make a lot of chicken sounds. The lil roos "crow" hens sing the "egg song" and the boys cluck about the food to lure the girls.
The only problem I ran into is the head "bonking" if they get spooked, they will kill themselves doing it! I use 20 gal long or 10 gal aquariums to brood now with screen lids.
I had a rabbit hutch with a wood top that took several of my young ones by head injury. It went on the burn pile. Live and learn from ignorant mistakes.

Wow. Okay, I will be the odd one out. I don't mind DST. I am looking forward to it not being borad daylight at 6 am when I am trying to sleep and it not being dark at 5:30 pm when I am trying to run errands. The difference of one hour doesn't throw me off a bit, to me it's no different then if I got lost in reading this thread (I'm to July 2013 people, I'm getting there!) and lost track of time and looked at the clock and it was an hour later than I thought it was. It's just not a big deal to me. It's never been a big deal to my kids either. I used to hand out on mommy forums like this and everyone would complain about the time change and how it messed up their kids naps and stuff and I'm like
idunno.gif
. My family might be mutants.

For all the non mutants out there, I hope this time change goes smoothly for you! Especially those of you with barred rocks because I know they find time changes especially challenging.

Now I can't remmeber what i posted on here last nght and what I didn't. I was drunk on toppers. Do you guys have toppers? Their pepperoni stix are amazing. Anyway, I peeked at an egg last night and I SWEAR I saw a little foot press itself against the side of the egg. Complete with teeny little chicken toes. Mind. Blown.

I don't mind dst either... Except for the fact that it takes me about 2 days to stop saying "the clock says 2 but it should really be 1". Lol I think it's because I can sleep at anytime in the day and/or night.
