Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I am having my husband ask one of his friends if they want the other dog. Unfortunately, having both is tempting.
Sturgis is five-ish. He was a stray, and I had to make up an age and birthday. I say he turned five in October. He dominated my sister's yellow lab when he was here. He did play with him. He is better about meeting new dogs (he used to be terrified at first meeting), but I am going to leave him at home. The woman keeps saying she is too busy, and I doubt the meeting will be long. She wants to have tea together (good thing DH likes tea) and you all know that the pups will be more interested in Sturgis than me. What if I don't even like them? I want to know before leaving with them.
How many of you believe that sleeping on the bed is a sign of dominance, and so is where the dog is located? I think it is a sign of instinct for the dog, but not dominance, to want to sleep with the pack. That includes the leader. Right?

The crazies are out today!

We are on an all day tour of all the cool fish stores in milwaukee with my reef club. I am so glad it's not below zero today. It's the longest I have been away from my house since I set my eggs. I kinda miss them!

George and Astrid are getting to free-range in the yard with the big girls! Hattie and Hecate each had a minor squabble with Astrid (the roolet). But it was just a quick squabble and over quickly with no visible injuries. They all came running up together when I brought out mealworms. They seem to be hanging out in the same end of the yard, but aren't flockish, yet.

Astrid is getting some gorgeous green feathers. I told him he should make nice with the big girls, because it's not like he'll be getting any from George any time soon.

They are cute puppies. Be careful, MC. In rescue, they are known for killing, particularly joyfully hunting down and killing the family cat, other non-dog family pets and birds. I just checked the AKC website, and even they mention "high prey drive"

I don't think I could stomach a store bought egg, and don't order eggs at restaurants.
The thought of store bought eggs is what got me to get 3 more layers. Last Fall I had only Smoke left and she was going into a heavy molt... so no eggs. I had to buy a dozen from the store

and decided then that I NEEDED more chickens. After the larger pen is built... I might need two more......

MC, it's okay for the dogs to be on the bed or furniture if you (the pack leader) invite them up. They should never go up without direct permission and they must get down when you say. Likewise, they should never precede you through a doorway or on a walk. Sitting before eating and waiting for permission to begin is also a good habit. Picking up the food bowl randomly while they are eating will also curb food aggression.

I know all this because I did a poor job raising Belle from a pup and I had to do a lot of retraining when she got older/bigger and thought she was the boss.

She was not trustworthy around the kids. Apparently, the litter she came from was removed from the mama and turned into a shelter at about 5 weeks, so she missed a lot of crucial doggy socialization. All is well now.
I'm still the boss of the backyard.

Mortie, gazing at tropical fish tanks seems like an excellent way to spend a cold day. Mesmerizing!

Cheeka, too bad about the weather today. Hope you have some time to enjoy outside with your friends.

I found a second Cochin egg overlooked in the nest box. The eggs are different shades, so I think both girls are laying.

Ruth had so much fun... and popped up from the floor better than I can do! the pups slobbered her good!

some of the eggs I sent as parting gifts... I didn't take pics of the food, but it was amazing! we are all stuffed to the point of ridiculous... I made fried eggs instead of a big omelet, as that's what everyone wanted - nice yolks for dipping into... french toast with cinnamon and maple syrup, and they chose sausage over pork chops, and the potatoes had lovely sliced peppers and mushrooms sauteed in.

the sky has cleared, it's slightly above freezing but the wind chill drives it back down to 20°, time to go treat the flock to some sunshine and scratching!.

I ... I seriously don't know what to say. The dogs aren't happening. I can tell you that. I did find a thread on here that said over and over no Huskies with chickens. But that isn't what did it. It was looking at the message between the woman and myself. She has been kicked off Facebook, and all of her posts have been deleted due to ... Well, I guess spamming people. I am just so... I don't know. Relieved? Upset? Numb? LOL! Confused!! I am confused!

Now I can move my house back to how it was. Oh joy!

Cheeka, it's hard to tell who's happier!

There's another little critter looking over Ruby's back that wants in on the action. (Spotty piggy?)

Your meal is making me

Lindz, the coop looks fabulous!!! Happy chickens for sure!

MC, sorry it didn't work out with the pups. Sounds like you may have avoided big problem with that person. I get confused a lot lately.
