Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I am home sick today. Is it bad that my first thought was "oh, now I can let the littles and the big chickens free range together again!" However, the coffee maker isn't turning on. I push other buttons on it and they seem to work, but the "on" button doesn't. Cruel, cruel universe.

MC, whatever my opinions on your breed choice, I am so sorry you were yanked around by that person.

Yay Rawley made it in his crate all day while we were at work w no accidents!!!! Tho I did leave 1 1/2 hrs early.

No eggs!

I'm not sure if this counts as "counting chickens" but today I took advantage of the nice weather and went to the feed store. I bought some shavings, a waterer, and some chick starter. Oh also a heat lamp. Technically I feel like this is counting chickens lol. I am not pretending the stuff isn't there. I also got a box from a dishwasher to use as a brooder.....I think I have everything I need except the chicks!

Did you know chicks like baby toys? The little things that spin, slide, beep and have a mirror.

I can probably find something in the baby toy bin. We'll see what happens. I'm trying not to think about them hatching...don't want to jinx anything.

Oh see now that is the ultimate jinx. I will put them in lockdown wednesday night or thursday morning and then we'll see what happens.

Mortie... we are all very eggscited about your eggs.... we need regular updates.

I think that my girls have recovered from the trauma of Saturday.

I got FOUR eggs today. Maxed out. But, I saw something disturbing.... When I gave the girls treats, Si pecked at Rumples... a few feathers fell out... Penny ran over and ATE the feathers. They were little neck feathers... but Penny ate them!!

the first sign is misspelled (and too small) the second sign is a good size...

on a positive note... I got 21 Eggs today! a new record, not just for 2014, but for all time!

I didn't get home early enough to do more than toss around some scratch and collect eggs. looking over the flock, Belgium D'Uccle Tommy has lost the points on his comb from frostbite. Max still has his points but they are still gray. the other boys had frostbite just as bad, but they seemed to recover, no points lost... the 2 in the dome also got some frostbite, the OEGB a bit worse than the Dutch, but both still have their points. I feel so badly for Tommy. the rest of his comb looks healthy
