Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Cheeka, what do you think about this for a sign?

My girls are not laying as many this past week or so.... I am hoping it is just where we have been working down there, and then moving them. Oh, and the huskies were here this morning.... I saw them, but they were gone before I could get my phone to get a pic.... I got 7 eggs today, and one broke in a nest. We added another roost this evening, and everyone went into the new coop with no problems tonight! I'm go glad cause having to let them into the old coop and then carrying them to the new coop yesterday was awful!

Clindz: was it you asking for outside pictures of the coop?

We worked on cleaning up around the yard this evening, and burned some scrap lumber and cardboard. The little girls had a blast today!

lindz, you know chickens don't like change... they'll get back to business straight away as the new coop is nice! love the "Table Fort" - my brothers and I were always taking couch cushions, blankets... such imaginations!

SBMom, love the egg bowl! so beautiful!

Mortie... we are all very eggscited about your eggs.... we need regular updates.

I think that my girls have recovered from the trauma of Saturday.

I got FOUR eggs today. Maxed out. But, I saw something disturbing.... When I gave the girls treats, Si pecked at Rumples... a few feathers fell out... Penny ran over and ATE the feathers. They were little neck feathers... but Penny ate them!!

Eating those little feathers is not uncommon, but can also show a need for a little extra protein. You definitely don't want them to start picking each other bald!

As for the feathers falling out so easily, it could be residual effects of the attack. I've read that feathers loosen when the birds get stressed or attacked. It's a survival strategy so the predator will get nothing but a mouth full of feathers. So glad they didn't get hurt and are laying too!

Cheeka, those signs are cute, even if imperfect. Your ferinds won't mind.

And I don't think the average egg eating person knows the difference between a rooster and a hen. Chickens lay eggs and that's all they need to know!

I was a few days behind cleaning/packing eggs.

Wow, that's a lot of eggs! I love your sink with the built in drain boards. Next kitchen remodel, I'm going to have to get something like that (yeah, if they still can be found in like 25 years). Jack London (the author) built a farm not far from here and they have turned it into a historic site. For years I have been lusting after the sink in his old farmhouse. Looks a lot like yours, but is green.

I wanna play fort too!!!
Great coop! They'll get used to the luxury very soon and start cranking out those eggs. When I got my first teaching job I rented a little cottage out behind an old farmhouse. I think your coop might be bigger than that cottage! Hope your chickens appreciate how lucky they are.

Please don't say, "green"!! Every room in this house has at least three shades of green in it. My poor front sun room. The walls are a nice white, the floor a decent blue soft indoor/outdoor carpet. And then there are the blinds. Green!!
If they could have, I am sure they (DH's aunt and uncle) would have had green counters.
