Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Well yesterday my one BCM took off so I'm hoping for 2 eggs today!

I'm totally on board with the fact that people are very passionate on "rules" around what should and shouldn't be done. Going to your situations Mortie, I found that the whole "decrease by 5 degrees a week was crap". I had a heat lamp on and it stayed on and in the same position. They either stayed near it or moved away. And I had no problems. I think common sense goes a long way. What I did do was keep it turned off during the day a couple of days prior to moving them outside so they didn't have such a shock in the temperature change.

My littles went without a light last night. I unplugged it yesterday when it was so warm and they were panting. Then I forgot to plug it back in. They are fine this morning. I probably won't plug it back in unless it gets cold again. They are spread out all over the building today.

Still sick.... so hi from afar!
12 eggs today and yesterday..... no more from the BCM yet

I am still sick too Lindz. I went to urgent care and they told me that this cold is a real nasty one. Lots of people have it. It has turned into a sinus infection. Z pak and cough meds. I am not going to continue with the cough meds. It makes me feel like a zombie. I hope you feel better... the weekend is almost here!!

Rumples came out for a quick bite and drink. Poor thing looked so hungry!! She was running around trying to fill her crop. She was all puffed up and low to the ground. I gave her some scratched which she scarfed down. 15 minutes later.... back on the nest. Good Momma!!

I collected sixteen eggs earlier. I went back out for the final eggs, and I was being growled at. I think she is an egg eater, but I left her alone. She was still growling when I was filling water in the other coop. I will go out in about an hour to see what is happening.
I offered eggs to a local church two weeks ago. I was called Monday, and told someone would pick up eggs today. I just now got the call. I have about twenty-eight dozen. She only needs 8-10. My mother-in-law will take another three tomorrow.

So my silkie is squatting but she's pretty young for a silkie (22 1/2 weeks). Does this mean I'll have eggs from her soon or is she gonna squat for the next 4 months and fake me out????

My guess is 3-4 weeks.
