Start stashing stuff for the trip home! we'll all be pretty hungry when we get there!

This can be your roost spot... it holds me... so it'll hold your tonnage...

Poor Mama Cheeka will come running out in a panic when she hears your peacock screech...! maybe we can trip her and she'll land in the mud! we'll have so much fun!

You guys crack me up.

Today it hit 40 and was fairly sunny so I brought the hooligans outside for some fresh air while I made them a new waterer and added some shavings to their box. Their little playpen is only 2 feet high and I left them unsupervised for like 5 minutes while I did that and I came back and one of the little brats was running around outside. I wasn't sure how I was going to catch it...they are pretty fast. Luckily, it tried to run through the chicken wire to rejoin the group when I came close so I was able to grab it. After only about a half hour I could tell they were getting chilly and ready to go back. They upgraded to a 96 oz juice bottle for their water and I bought a larger feeder that holds 7 lbs of food. I was getting tired of having to refill both of those twice a day. HA! That should hold em for at least 24 hrs.

Tomorrow should be mid 50's so I intend for them to spend some more time outside again. Some of them are growing feathers on their heads already and are almost completely feathered and they just turned 3 weeks old today. One of the chicks I suspect of being a rooster seemed to be especially wary when they were outside today...seemed to be watching for danger. Maybe I am imagining it. I'll let you know how he tastes ;).

No eggs today, but they took a nap after their outing and had half a pancake.

Meet Squirt! I'm naming the chickies as they come to me. Squirt squats at the drop of a hat if I even look like I might be willing to pet her. And then stays to get a good long pet!!!!

Squirt is cute! I'm starting to like Silkies. My little black one is pretty sweet, and despite appearances, is a very competent chicken. Except she can't fly.

Pretty picture. They look like they have really thick winter coats.

They'll be flying tomorrow!! As soon as one figures it out, they all turn into birds.
