Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Sorry about the fox attack, gilcamp.

8 hens! Good thing the others were able to hide. I think they are the most unpredictable predators, it's so hard to anticipate what they'll do. It does seem like they go to school. Guess the sly description is well earned.

Well, my indoor cat is outside again.

Somebody did not latch the screen door and she let herself out the front door. One of the boys saw her go. Hubs and I were out to dinner for my sister's b-day, which is when the door got left unlatched

(it wasn't me), so she's been out for quite a while. I saw her briefly after we got home, but she won't come. Hope she has a cozy night under the shed.

Here's hoping Ming has a safe night but not cozy....that way she won't want to get out again!!!

Ahhhh Gilcamp sorry for your loss!! Hug the survivors for me!!!

we had a fox get into our hens this morning, it must have been a whole family as they got 8 of my hens, the rest were under the coop hiding, now i only have 21 hens not sure how they figured out under the gate, could not get under the fence, i want to get one of them light that came on to scare them away, we have a lot of red foxes here they wonder around in day light, will walk right across the street they don't care about day or night. this is only the 2nd time they got in the yard we thought we had it so they could not get in, they must have a school to teach them short cuts to entry yards.
That is awful! I hope your remaining chickens are ok. Can you shoot them?

Hoping for lots of healthy little babies, Scrambles!

Ming update: I left the porch light on, front door open, screen unlatched. Cat let herself in at 1:30am, raced gleefully all over the house, then attached herself to me for the rest of the night. This morning she is very smug.
