Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Happy Father's Day!!!!

So I only got two eggs yesterday which means EVERYONE was waiting in line for the two available nest boxes. A couple of brave girls even tried squeezing in w Nugget!

So I made an impromptu nest out of a cardboard box and we'll see if they use that. They haven't used the corner of t&e he coop nest since squirt brooded there and I cleaned it out, nor have they been laying in the well roof. Oh well... They'll make do. I did clean out the little coop and set those nests up so maybe they'll get used!!!

Some pictures from our weekend.

Zauk is doing better but still sore. He gets meds for a month and had to have wounds cleaned and medicine put on twice a day until they are healed.
Paisley is doing great! She had a reaction to a vaccine against Lyme disease the other day and had to have Benadryl but is fine now. We are trying to get her used to wearing bows in her hair. Lol.

The broody came off her nest to eat this morning so I snuck a picture.

The eagle was in a hayfield that had just been cut. We think it was eating a fawn that had been killed by the hay mower because after it left a mama deer came and was looking for her baby. I have only ever seen maybe 2 eagles in the wild so it was a treat. I just hate that hay season brings on tragedy for many wild animals.

first watermelon of the season! and it was a really good one! it's the close of the full day #1, and she did take two more eggs this morning. so she has 8 LF eggs, and 1 Silkie egg. she's very content today, enjoying no competition for her space or her food.

19 more eggs in the basket.

I'm back from the Keys. Had to leave there in a hurry. Seems somebody that looked like me ate a some womans french fries at Sloppy Joes while she was in the restroom. I had a little to drink but had nothing to do with it. But I got the blame. Just a big misunderstanding.

Peach is all settled in! Are some the eggs hers? I can see that little bald patch on her head, so she must be fertile.

Now she'll have time to grow her hair back.

Hope everyone had a great day! My dad, brother, and sis all came over for a celebratory father's day meal. As usual, there was way too much food, although we did our best!

Guess I won't have to cook for a few days, so yay for leftovers!

The Serama chicks are all fine. Nine little ones, and so far only one cockerel has shown himself. Pretty good odds! The 2 English Orpington chicks that I got to put under the broody (who tried to eat them

) are growing like mad. The lavender one is a cockerel and pretty sure the blue is a pullet. At almost 6 weeks, the cockerel is as big as a full grown Serama! Hoping someone around here will want these two. I'm so tempted to keep them, but the big boy will have a crow to match his size, so probably wouldn't be very neighborly of me. Maybe advertising them as a pair will help attract some interest. Chicken guy at the feed store said he'd buy them from me to resell, but wants them at least 8 weeks old. I just hope I can find them a good home.

Happy Father's Day!

so, floating around on Facebook, is a Flourless Banana Pancake idea. You've got to make it. it's so easy and it's absolutely delicious!

now the recipe calls for 1 banana & 2 eggs per serving. my bananas are a bit small, so I chose medium eggs. it seemed "eggy" so I added 1 more banana... a sliver of butter in a nonstick pan, medium heat, flip... serve - I chose to add a dash of powdered sugar and some chocolate syrup. it was good hot & chilled - we put one straight from the pan into the freezer for 15 minutes. have fun and experiment with different toppings!

If I had just read the recipe and hadn't seen your pancake, I wouldn't have thought it sounded too good. But that pancake does look delicious! I'll have to give it a try. Who is the fellow enjoying it?
