So question,
I have been reading on other forums here about red pepper flakes mixed in with there food to make them start to lay if they have stopped. My question is, will it also motivate them to start laying as well if they are close to laying? Even though they appear to be either defective or a roo in hens clothing I still don't want to hurt them.

I think there are 3 out. the one red, and a yellow chipmunk and one with pink feet that is determined to blend in with Mama.

I can see the pattern on this one, but it's still wet

red pepper flakes are a good all around nutritional supplement for birds.
Don't quote me on this, but I believe birds and spicy peppers have a long standing evolutionary relationship in that birds are immune to the spicy chemicals in the peppers and the peppers developed the chemical to keep things away, other than birds who they wish to spread their seeds.
I really couldn't tell you from a scientific measured standpoint on how that "conversation" happens...but you see it all over nature in symbiotic relationships.
But there was a time when we also couldn't measure sound, and we know that's there.
