Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

It was hot here, too. Not actually really hot hot, but really humid and no breeze. The hot, sticky air was just hanging there. We had soccer all day. My kids had 4 games and we have 4 games tomorrow. The girls were panting a bit. I set up a mister for them and gave them an extra waterer to make sure they had plenty. I am sure they just lounged under the coop all day.

Hi OK! s'been a long time! how's life been treating you my friend? it's insanely late and I just popped on to catch up and say goodnight! we had a truly incredible evening - I've got lots of pics, but will have to wait til morning... and coffee! I"m deliriously tired... hope to hear more of what you and the flock have been up to since Summer began!

Strawberry chick wing tips were a little longer this morning, the first brown chick also has them, but they are matching brown, and the first chipmunk chick is still just fluff. it hatched a half day behind the others so I bet it'll sport them by the end of today.

I told my Sweetie that I was going to video... and to please watch the language as he was swearing quite a bit over the beautiful display...well... I got a little snappy

because he kept grabbing my shoulder and shaking me... and I told him to quit it, which was picked up on the audio...

I have gotten mystery eggs the past two days. Thin shells.... Could it be the heat? Today I collected 3 brown eggs, when 2 is the max for me no matter who is laying. The pullets are only 12 weeks old.

I am suffering from the heat. I need to lie down.

Lucky you Scrambles! I'm still waiting for my first egg(s). Mine are 18 weeks now. Pubic bones 2 finger- widths apart.

i have 58 chickens in 3 age groups, the last group we hatched, the 2nd group is about ready to lay, but the first group cut back we got 21 eggs in may now we only get 12 a day, we just put last ones out in a coop, we have a camper made into a coop then we just made another one, we can not free ranch so we made a large yard 30 x 60 now we have to get some of the 2nd group to sleep in new coop.

The heat is dragging us down. I put a sunbrella over the coop and a mister over the pen. The flock is under the trees resting. Cold grapes for treats. My poor chickens......

are you sure one of your girls didn't lay two or you missed one from yesterday.

I don't mean to sound rude, but 12 weeks is simply impossible for a chicken to lay unless they've come up with a new GMO bird that matures so fast that I haven't heard about?
