Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

well... as for mortie's pick a date, if they don't lay by August 2nd, my next pick is October 20th.

I had an easier day today. my route plus 30% of another, so I was on my way outta there by 2:30. picked up a few hundred pounds of seed and feed which I unloaded after I let the flock out - it was overcast, but not much chance for rain and I so needed some flock therapy! the chicks have fully feathered wings, nice patterns coming in - and I witnessed some interesting behavior between the 2 Mamas. Peach was being peckish with Gossamer, and I don't want her to do that, and steal all the chicks... but Gossamer has a plan. she gets pecked, moves... circles around and gets underneath Peach like a giant chick. then all the chicks go under Gossamer. it's a 3 story pileup. I may be able to get a photo of it in the morning as I believe they sleep that way. if I sleep late, I'll get a pic tomorrow night at bedtime.

12 Eggs today and a definite egg eating issue started in the Foster Pen. I need to get home earlier - my routine is so disrupted and it's affecting them.

My sofa reeks of dog! I have cleaned it with a sponge, and Fabreezed it twice. Any other suggestions?
She was only here a week. I can't believe she stank up the couch so bad!

Try spritzing it with a water/vinegar solution. I'm not sure what the "proper" ratio is, I like to go heavy on the vinegar and mine is usually half and half but I think a higher ratio of water would also work. Wet it down pretty good then allow to dry completely...see if that helps (no, your couch won't smell like vinegar afterwards).

This morning I went out, still bleary eyed, to gather the eggs. There were none. I freshed up the water and while I was doing that I saw Penny go check out the nest. She didn't go in though. They never go in. Maybe they don't like my nest. It seems small to me, but it's the same size as ones you would buy, and the sizes I saw recommended over and over online. I'll keep an eye out today I guess. For now, she is content to just stick her head in and pick at the straw.

Today is my youngest spawn's 7th birthday. He was born a little after 1 am. My pregnancy with him was a bit rocky and scared me half to death, but it was worth it, he is a joy. When he was 3 or so, I had been in the middle of making some sandwiches and someone knocked on the door. I guess I chatted with the person a little too long because this happened:

Have a great day, everyone!
