Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Ahhhh after having the niece and nephew over for 4 days today begins my vacation of do nothing and go nowhere!

Tho I do miss the kiddos. Zach still loves the chickens and was feeding them all weekend w scratch mixed into their food. Needless to say feeding time is now mass assault to get to it first!!!

I painted my sign and stuck it in the driveway advertising all my EXTRA, SURPLUS eggs!!!!

Need to make $200 more dollars this year so in 2 years we can qualify for farm assessment when it comes down to property tax time.

I prob should just hatch some more babies!!! Lol

This batch of babies I just got is exceptionally cute!!!!
what state are you in that you would get farm assessment? i have 46 chickens, i may have to look into that one lmdo

NJ does farm assessment w 5 acres if actively managed farm land and$500 gross income for two yrs prior. W taxes here we need it!!!

W4W I thought you just came back from a big trip? What the flim flam?! I went to Kauai last year and I miss it terribly every single day.

I'm not sure if I mentioned, but that egg was a double yolker. Yum! It was 84 grams. Her last egg was 53.

i am babysitting my friend's 8 week old. He's cute and I love babies but man I forgot how much work they are!

Our grandkids are 7 and 1, they stay for an hour and I'm done! I just get up go to the barn and sit down. I don't even want to talk about when they come to spend the night. I feed them chocolate and Mountain Dew then go to bed and leave them with their grandmother lol

I had my niece and nephew (12 and 11) for 4 days and we went thru 5 boxes of donuts!!!! I can only imagine what grandmother gets to deal w after dew and choc!!

Yup, busy summer for us. We went to Alaska at the end of June and Maui at the end of July. In between those 2 trips, poor Hubs had a working trip to southern China for 10 days too. He would be happy to be back home but had to go in to work today (and we didn't get home until 1am this morning *YAWN*). Older son will be a junior this year, so we're trying to squeeze in family vacations before it's too late.

Wow Alaska and Hawaii! Talk about two ends of the spectrum!!!! I get your chickens missed you!!!

clindz, chickens are very fickle creatures. They will be loyal to whomever brings the treats! I think I missed them more than the other way around. My brother generously house sat for us again, and everything is in tip-top shape. There were lots of feral chickens all over Maui. Everyone considers them pests, though.

The Serama chicks grew a bit. 2 of the cockerels are getting beautiful colors. Must drag a child up there to help take pictures.
