400 eggs so far today. So many extras I cracked them all into the bath tub and took a bath in them.

If you wait until next spring, people will be giving away their extra cockerels and you will have your pick! If you like red birds, check out New Hampshires. Gorgeous. RIRs that are breeder/heritage quality are a deep dark mahogany color and quite striking. Hatchery RIRs are the lighter red, but I have not heard good things about the rooster temperament, so it might be worth a little research. You've got lots of time to find the perfect, gentlemanly rooster. So I'm thinking about a getting a roo somewhere down the road. With the RSL's I have no idea what I even need to be looking at. If I hatch any I think I want a little bigger bird, but I don't want to loose that pretty red color. So am I limiting myself to like a RIR? Idk just some things I'm thinking about for the future.
Edited to add: I also don't want to loose egg production.
I've found a few eggs like that. Someone said it means the egg was cracked internally while getting the shell laid on, but the later calcium layers covered the damage. I know Penny is 2nd gen sexlink, but she looks just like my gold SL, so not surprised she is laying so well for you. Now just need the others to get it in gear!OMG Lindz ,those are some ADORABLE babies!
JW - first time I heard the egg song I did the same thing. Tore out of the house thinking the worst and it was just Penny cackling her fool head off having just hopped out of the nest after a practice attempt at laying.
We got our first oddity today. Penny has been laying perfect eggs all along, no misfires or double yolkers til today. Finally she presented us with this:
