Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I'm new to this so I bought them laying , they are in a hot weather , they have a big run ( free space )

If you just got them and moved them, it might have stressed them out a little. Sometimes they need some time to adjust to a new location before they start laying again.

It might be the lack of sunlight in the winter.  My girls took a serious break during the shorter days of the year, and are just starting to lay well again.  I feed my girls bugs and worms of all kinds, and have seen no ill effects.  There is even a thread about the weirdest things chickens have eaten.  They really are scavengers!

Mine are so gprgous and I moved them so many times , but this one last time i moved and gave them the worms might effect them little bit , I will wait and see

Most hens don't lay every day anyway, so sometimes their days off are all on the same day and you get no eggs. Very hot weather can stress chickens too. Mine actually have more trouble with the heat than the cold. Make sure they have some shade and plenty of water.

I haven't caught up on the thread yet but I have a funny story. I have been talking about culling Penny for real. She is a major slacker and had not laid for 12 days. DH said he would not do it. She is a pet. So... I asked him to sharpen the axe for me and I would do it. We need room for the chickies soon. Well.... yesterday I got 2 eggs. One from the egg machine Nugget and one from Penny. Ha ha... threats do work.

Well the threats definitely worked Scrambles!

Whenever my hens don't lay, I shake my head and say Chicken Pie!
It doesn't work....

Penny has now laid TWO days in a row. I think I really got her attention this time.

I was serious about culling her too.
