Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

If the bunny gets electrocuted, is it fully cooked, and ready to eat?
Well, I suppose that would kill two birds bunnies with one stone, but really, I can't stand the smell of burning hair.

Gack!

So MC, what did you decide about the house rabbits? Are you going to have little Hershey kisses all over your house?

That bunny is sooo cute, I could just hug him and kiss him and sqeeeeze him and never let him go! BA ha. Had one bunny for 4h as a kid, we were supposed to grow him and eventually slaughter ......never did....I think he got to 14 lbs and lived out his life with the chickens in and around the coop, and my monserous turkey project that never saw the table either. Ever wonder why there are white rabbits hopping around out there......such is farm life, you can have all kinds of critters. Scratch is a good one, remember, the more common a name, the less likely it will be picked up by the auditors. It also allows them to waste time on goose chases. Orlof may be too easy...its already been established that Santa resides somewhere between Russia and Canada...not the north pole.....that was a goose chase we sent the auditors on...he doesn't like frozen tundra and really is more social than previously indicated., likes to have a garden, hang out at the feed store, visit the pub, stuff like that. Its been rumored he has a second home somewhere in Kentucky but that's never been verified, that trail went cold for the auditors, and cost them a huge amount to follow. Apparently a few lost their jobs over diverted funds and Santa upgraded his sleigh. Gotta love Christmas. Scratch y'all.

Sherman was a great pet, rather dog-like in how much attention he wanted and how enjoyed having his face and head rubbed. Sooo sweet. He wasn't afraid of anything, not usually a sign of high intelligence I know, but the phrase "dumb bunny" is around for a reason. Chicory was supposed to be a 4H project as well. #2son stuck with the meetings for a year, but quit when he served the agreed upon time saying "I didn't really want to be in 4H. I just wanted a rabbit."

But we liked Chicory so much, we ended up getting Sherman too. The rabbits we had when I was young were outside-in-the-hutch rabbits that didn't get enough attention and got mean. In the house, they are really quite social and entertaining. Chicory is more like a cat. He decides when he will allow you the privilege of petting his super soft coat.

Adult Chicory meets baby Sherman.

The heavens have opened up and it's like being under a waterfall out there! The pineapple express is blowing in from Hawaii, and we're getting drenched. Flooding too, but not near my place. Got over 5" since yesterday and supposed to be over 9" by Sunday. Fortunately, it's very mild in the upper 50s.

Thought I'd take a break from ark building to share pics of Grace, the Welsummer, who is finally laying. 4 eggs in 5 days! The eggs are a pretty terra-cotta color and have speckles.
Did I mention how happy I am?

See pretty egg? Actually, the front left was her first, speckled the second, and they're getting darker.

They sure do calm down when they start laying. I've never been able to get this close to her with a camera.
Can you see the large spur bud on her forward leg? Hope they don't get sharp.

Such pretty eggs! And a beautiful hen. As long as she doesn't use those spurs! My roosters spur don't get that long, but they are darn sharp, pencil point sharp. My grandson had a rabbit for a long time, he cried when he died.....someone gave him a replacement. That bunny sure did love and trust him.

IDK. As tempting as it is, so are a lot of animals. If I have to keep the chicken numbers down, I don't see getting another animal.
Speaking of the silly chickens, I finally got my sand today. By the time the guy left, the neighbors from BOTH sides came over (the dump truck got their attention).
Long story short, for all the whining that they wanted to be in the main coop, no one wanted in there once I opened the doors to let them in. After about five minutes, Rocky the RIR roo comes tearing out of the side coop (where I still have not made a ding dang run), through the sand, and out into the run. Before that I had 18 chickens by both doors looking into the big coop, daring each other to go first. Roger would have shoved everyone in, and shut the doors to keep them in there!

Anyway, they all decided to run through, and swap places, then realized the sun was almost gone. A frenzy to get into the smaller coop (all one shed, walled down the middle, and connected by a center door) and there they stayed for an hour. I was out with the dog, and heard the sound of fluttering and thunking. They flew right to the roosts. Four anyway. I am pretty sure they are all roosting by now.
I only got in enough sand to cover the floor. I am sure I will need to add more tomorrow. It has been a heck of a long day, and I am thinking 8:00 is bedtime tonight!
I keep smelling chicken crap. Either I didn't get the dog clean enough, or I just smell wet dog, and I am paranoid.

Please let me be paranoid!

W4W ~ awesomely beautiful eggs, all of them... your newest layer is just stunning, she has a beautiful shape, and her tail is perfect, I love all the contrasting colors...

my rogue white bunny is still around, he doesn't let anyone close to him... that's probably a wise choice on his part... he's white white. and he's evaded the fox, the hawks (although that is how he got here, he was dropped from the sky) he lives with the deer, and hangs out by the big lilac unless the gang is there first...

3 eggs today, looks like they are taking turns, keep getting one of each brown and cream, and one day the olive egg, and the next the blue green...

SCRATCH y'all!

he really did... bh and I were out in the yard last year, when wham! he landed, interestingly enough... in the area where all my beloved former Pugs and kitties are buried... talon marks in his rear were a bit bloody, and he was in rough shape. bh wanted to put him down, and forbade me to go near it

but he made it to the woods. he was still alive the next day, so we put some corn out. he ate it, and from there it's history. he has never left. I put little piles of different rabbit feed and treats in a few consistent places and he does well with forage. I keep a bowl of water and a small salt wheel in the large lilac for him. I've only gotten a few pictures of him, all distant... and bc he is so pure white, they don't enlarge well.

oh and silly me... I took Isis' egg out early this morning, so it was 4 today!
