Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

omg, Periwinkle thinks the end of Chester's tail is her personal chew toy. and he is letting her. he's just sniffing at her ears... I will get a photo of that later! guaranteed she'll do it again because he doesn't mind!

he's funny, he's already very protective of them both, but particularly Periwinkle. don't know if it's because she sort of looks like Ruby... but Tinkerbell makes a lot of grunting, snuffling, snorting sounds, as is typical of pugs, and growls when she's playing. Chester isn't sure of all those sounds, so he cries a bit at times, but he is loving all the playing and running and kissing. this is going to work out well. love them so already!

Okay, here is my whooooole story!
I have an old house, and I have to check to be sure the toilet handle is up so it doesn't run (don't you just hate it when the toilet runs after you?

).
Last night I gave up on the ten duck eggs. I candled one last time (the three chicks are doing great so far!) and opened them up. Not one fertile egg. I had yesterday's egg in the nursery. I was going to set it since I watched the ducks mate the other day, and figured it may just take a few days to get the eggs fertile. I didn't set it. I told the last mom that I would call the hatchery today, and place an order. If the eggs turn up fertile before hand, I can cancel the order... Or keep those ducklings and the ones I hatch. "cause who the heck is going to day no to babies?!?!

This morning I thought I had checked yesterday's egg already. I was going to call the hatchery when I got in the house. Instead I heard the toilet running. The ONE time in IDK how long I didn't check the handle! But it was God's doing! I saw the egg sitting there that I thought I had checked for fertility. Anyone wanna guess what I found?!? I HAVE FERTILE EGGS!!
I won't be calling the hatchery now. I will set the new eggs on Friday.

That's great Cheeka, I'm so happy for you! It's so lovely of you to give them such a good home and I bet Chester loves them too!

They are so adorable! Very happy for both you and your buddy, Chester.
Your brother is deserving of the Brother of the Year Award, too.

Can't imagine my brother driving 2000 miles to bring me dogs.

Can't wait for more pics! Hope Periwinkle enjoys her new chew toy!

I got an egg from my EE. Third one, in a row! She started laying three days ago,so an egg a day. Is this unhealthy? This one was also noticeably larger than her first one.Is this normal?

Everything is normal right now. And the eggs will get bigger and smaller for a few weeks or so before settling on bigger. After her first molt, they will get even bigger.
