Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

After weeks of rain, thankfully we had a day of sun which helped dry some of it up. Our house was okay but many local areas were flooded. The road were underwater!

This photo was taken at a village around 20 minutes from me.

So, you only got a little rain. :-D
Thank you. I think she's getting cuter this past week. She's 17 1/2 months. 18 months is a milestone for when baby turns to child. You know what I mean? Even in the past few days, she seems to have lost some rolls on her thighs.

Min, so glad you and your family are not in the flood. That looks pretty bad. What a mess for those poor people!

MC, I was just going to ask how old Duckling is! She is doing really well for that age. I don't think either of my sons could have been trusted to hold a plate of cookies at that age! I'll say it again, it warms my heart that you are caring for her. Baby that smart will absorb the bad as easily as the good. You are showing her the good stuff!

Has anyone heard from Cheeka since Christmas? I'm wondering if she lost power. There were some reports on the news about power outages in the east, but they did not give specifics because, you know, this is California.

Governor declared a state of emergency here in MO because of flooding. Think the chicks are building an ark out there just for safe measure. Runs are a muddy mess.

Cheeka is fine. She's been on Facebook.
Duckling is learning a lot of bad stuff from people that don't understand they are putting her in danger by teaching her these things!
Thank you for the compliment!
In the Hatching thread, there is a guy that lost all but three chickens that he was able to get into his house. A coop actually washed away. I think he said it had his cream Crested leg bars. If not them, it was something equally as rare.

Ask me how she got that doll on her head! It took me about 5 to 10 minutes to figure it out! The doll sits in the corner of the crib. She must have burrowed her head underneath it in her sleep.

Oh, that is so sad. About the chickens, not Cheeka! I thought this el nino was supposed to bring rain to dry California. Seems all the rain is going where it's not wanted or needed.

Close call today. As I was cleaning the run and watering the chickens a huge hawk I think or maybe even an eagle swooped down right behind me where the chickens were scratching around. When I heard the chickens squawking, I turned around and saw this humungus bird flying away. I didn't see a chicken in its talons, but, could not find Rosie. As Maybel was getting ready to go in the coop for the night I heard Rosie in the woods behind the coop. I went to call her to get her into the pen and toward the coop, and she was calling warnings into the woods and wouldn't come with me (she always follows on my heels). I had to go and pick her up and bring her home, and she was so nervous and scared... poor baby. But she is OK and they both are safe and locked away in the coop for the night, thank God. They will need to be locked away for awhile because I have a feeling that bird will be back...
