Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Very cute!!!!

It took way too long,
But she finally sang the egg song!
One egg today!
Hip Hip Horray!

My Wheaten Marans Monica laid this beauty in the nesting box today:

It's been three months, but I finally have a laying chicken again xD

Thanks Monica!

I took this picture two weeks ago, her comb is practically double in size now!
Lovely egg Min!! Neither of those girls look wheaten to me.

Monica on the left?

My lights have been flickering. Duckling left tonight, so I was getting some stuff done in her room. I finished all but dusting and grabbing the laundry.
Gotta go to bed. I'll tell you more than you care about tomorrow. Night all!!

Not only am I boring, I make no sense!
I finished up in the room quickly because I was upstairs without a flashlight. I didn't want to feel my way down a flight of stairs.
Duckling hasn't said, "cat, dog, egg or no" in months. I have been teaching her other "noises" since. "I yeye yeye(how the heck is that spelled?)" "ohhhhh!" And I'm still working on "okay".
Yesterday I taught her to use a croaky voice (I didn't think she'd be able to do it!). It's funny hearing her do it. Especially since when she does it, she laughs at herself.
Friday (I really should put it on you tube) I taught her, "uh oh". For some reason though, she says, "uh uh oh!" I told her mother about the two new things she learned. Duckling did the croaky voice, but barely whispered, "uh uh oh" and I told her mother she'd do it loudly when she wanted to. No sooner than they were home, I see this post on Facebook.

I'm still trying to understand pajamas without s bath at 5:00, but that's another story. I was told that I was appreciated IN A PUBLIC WAY! Cool, huh?
So back to the bedroom. The dresser was full of old stuff from Aunt Lee. I had to find a way to store it, because this is Duckling's room, and hanging everything on a clothes line across the ceiling was getting old. Especially since socks had to go somewhere, and I'm also running out of hangers all the time. Since I barely change her diaper downstairs anymore, most of her clothes being down here was silly. I had to use the bottom drawer for Unk's military flag and a few other things from on top of the dresser. I'll deal with them another time. The drawers are huge, so I have enough room for all of her stuff. I was sad to put her bibs away in storage,
Today I dust, straighten the bed in there, and get her laundry done. Oh. I have to haul the Kirby up there. I hate the Kirby!

Oh oh uh? You got credit!!! At least it's something!

My guys got motivated to learn and say new words from reading books. We would play "I spy" with the pictures and see if they could point out what I saw in a picture. Eventually they would start saying the words when I asked "what's that?" Our favorite book for this was Goodnight Gorilla, because it didn't have any words and we figured out the story from the pictures. Even if they don't say the words, it is a huge vocabulary builder. My first kid had a speech problem, but at 3, his vocab and understanding were that of a much older kid, so at least I knew his brain was working! He's 17 now and speaks very well, but I'm not so sure about his brain anymore! Teenagers!!!

yes sirree you deserve credit so I'm glad they posted that!

I lost power for about 11 hours yesterday into last night, so at 8 PM, I went downtown for kerosene, for the heater... hoping that the power would come back on as soon as I walked in with the jug... and it did, for like one second. anyway, I followed a power company truck all the way down, and it was dark all the way down, until main street. main street had power. good, I'd be able to get kero without driving an additional 20 miles or so... another power truck was in front of me on the way back, and a 3rd at someone's house close to the top of the hill... anyway, I got the heater fired up and vented the house so I could sleep without being anxious... it was about 3 AM when the power was restored but my furnace refused to fire. it runs... I bled it... no fire. the muscly dude will be here in about 45 minutes to fix it. better go comb my hair... lol

We read a lot, and I have her show me where things are. I, of course, point things out that are new, and as I am reading about them.
