Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

W4W ~ sure do hope that you are far enough north to be untouched by the earthquakes!!!!!!

OK ~ Roger also wants this ~ http://www.treehugger.com/green-home/neiman-marcus-100k-chicken-coop-little-eggcessive.html ~ she even offered her modeling services for the advertisement...
No doubt she wants it. lol.....allthis4eggs. But Roger will live out her life at the "Hen Hotel"........unless I win the powerball. Then I will move her inside my house and hire a nanny to care for and clean up behind her. Might have to build her own wing onto the house. Soundproof so I can't hear her calling for her maid.

Come on, do you really think Roger will spring for a whole dollar? Dream on. She will recycle a gift no doubt. (OK, I hope your not looking for bread books, most are for the coffetable...get the bittman book, you will get a good basic book and be able to make pizza, french bread, rolls biscuits and pie crust, cakes and cookies with a good understanding of the process, he also has a list of recommended in depth books in the back) i bought a used one for a friends birthday, it was nicer than mine! It had an inscription written inside the frount cover which sanded out nicely. I dont think the person who got it ever even opened it. W4w, I know what you mean...I'm glad I have a responsible person dropping by...just in case we have a long stretch with no water...but even though I said he doest have to come by every day, I know he will. (To collect the eggs) He wanted chicken so bad but wife doesn't. Too bad, because then I could keep a good rooster there, and just in case I loose mine I could use his. Oh well...sil will be here next year so i will get them started on a small flock and breed a group up there.
Love the tune, by the way. :)

No, haven't felt any quakes in quite some time. They happen all the time, but are usually too small to notice. There was a good size one north of us yesterday and now the one down south, so maybe it's time for The Big One soon. Oh it's coming! I am about an hour north of the Golden Gate and 30 miles inland, so although still in prime earthquake country, we are well situated to avoid catastrophic damage or getting stuck in a densely populated area. Oh yeah, we are also east of the San Andreas fault, so when that ruptures and the western edge of California disappears into the Pacific, we will have beach front property! Been hearing about this my whole life. I may joke, but we are prepared too.

Hahaha! missed seeing the Palace on Roger's list! I figured most of her list was out of my range so stopped reading at #1 - a $500 gift certificate to Bakers Square (you know, for the PIE!).

ACW, do you have family moving close by? That's great, especially if they are going to have chickens! It's sad that your neighbor who wants chickens can't have them, but at least you have a dedicated chicken-sitter.

OK, California is going to join in the Powerball lottery! After that last huge jackpot, I guess enough people complained so they're joining up. Woohoo! Such a deal! Think of all the wonderful fantasies we dream for only $1. Cheaper than going to a movie!

yes... one day, California will break away and float off in pieces, and Kentucky (uh oh OK) will sink into middle earth... don't know 'bout the rest of y'all, but I think that ACW and I are the safest, tucked up high in the hills, however, storms like Irene might turn Middleburgh into a lake, but I'd still be safe... no where to go... but should still have a roof over my head... lol ... and eggs to eat.

no eggs yet. bbl

I've only been getting 2-3 lately, instead of 4 or 5.

My Chickens gave me their list today...
  • 8 dozen eggs (can you figure that one out??)
  • a coop expansion
  • 4 pumpkins
  • another coop expansion
  • a rabbit (Not too sure about this one)
  • a butler
  • a maid
  • 18 bags of scratch. Daily.
  • for grass to grow in the coop
  • for the dogs to disappear
  • a heater
  • another coop expansion
  • air conditioning
  • running water
  • a flat screen TV
  • iPhones
  • electricity
are they trying to tell me something??

animallover! that is some list... better get on it... if you can at least give them the 'lectricity, the tv and the iPhones... maybe you can slide by on the rest... and then your parents will make you live in the coop with all that fine stuff...

my gangs list is small comparatively... but still way out of reach. they want the Neiman Marcus Chicken Mansion. can you imagine??? have they even ever sold ONE? does anyone famous own one??? who would buy it? rich people stay rich because they don't buy crazy stuff like that... but an "insta-star"... Like Honey Boo Boo, maybe? although if you believe the show, they still live in that trailer, and Sugar Bear is still a sorta-clean shaven Nub Tooth. He could have good store bought teeth by now...

Its amazing what people will buy....looking at the coop from a chickens perspective...its crappy. Where's the tree limb roosts? Where the oversized dust bath? Chandelier? No where to even perch on it. There's no running stream for perfectly fresh water, and didn't see a treat dispensor. Where's the skylight for sunning? And shelves overflowing with clean straw to preen on.....my chickens scratched that one.
Don't tell roger, but I think I used her list for starting a fire..I thought it was junk mail...ooops.
My sil plans to move here as soon as schools out. Yea!

Ugh you guys, been an awful week... daughter had car probs.... you name it. Finally drying out today but more rain tomorrow. Hope everyone's well and getting plenty of eggs! I had my first EVER perfect day

we laid 5 today!
going to read and catch up with y'all, looks like i missed a bunch of fun.

Does it count as a perfect day if I only have one layer, and she lays? Now that I have two (or three. You know how BR like to hide eggs to make you wonder!)
layers, does it still count as a perfect day to get two?
I will post pics of my new coop -to - be tomorrow or Sunday. Anyone else having problems with text usage with their Verizon phone? I was telling my mother, and she said they were telling her she had to up her plan this week too.

Anyhoot, my gang's list has just been updated to include a new water heater or two. The old one broke today, and I am afraid to use it after I fix it (water hit the light bulb, and it shattered).
