Hope things are going well for you and your mom, cheeka. At least the Olympics are on so there is something different to watch on the old boob tube.
I went to Zion National Park last week. Very beautiful, after you get into the valley and away from the desolate scrub.
We flew into Las Vegas and drove out to Zion. Had to drive down the strip, of course. New York, New York hotel

Some cool roadside geology on the drive.

View from the back of our hotel.

We got there toward the end of a freak storm that caused flash flooding and a rock slide that kept us from seeing part of the park until the last day.

Zion Valley is rimmed by beautiful sandstone walls. They are more red than the pictures show.

Hubs and my #2 son climbed to the top of Angels Rest. You could see tiny little people walking along the ridge to get there.

This beast was feeding on the whorled milkweed along with a big flock of butterflies. It is a Tarantula Hawk wasp. Over 2 inches long and apparently has the 2nd worst sting of any insect. Glad I didn't know that when I was harassing it to get a close picture. I could tell it was a wasp but thought it was a peaceful nectar drinker. No... It stings tarantulas and lays its eggs in them. The larva eat the spider from the inside out, leaving the organs for last so it will live longer. eeek! But it was so pretty! The body was a beautiful bright blue in the sun and the wings were dragonfly orange. Stunning insect, but glad I didn't get stung or I really would have been stunned!

Last day hike. My #2 and hubs are at the end of the line. A lot of people were up in this section of the park since it had just opened the night before. Huge boulders were blocking the road to get up here. I took pictures as an excuse to go slow and rest.

I have more pics, but they are still on the camera. If I have any good ones, I will share.
Take care. Hugs and prayers.
