it's not my birthday until tomorrow, but she was too excited to wait any longer, she bought this a week ago ~ 100 gel pen set! she's like... please, can this be a share present? lol!!!

falcon? or what?? big and bold. sat on my fence til I let Chester out to chase it off, then it only went about 20 feet up in the tree. staring in my yard non stop except for a moment of preening... gah!

I'm looking up that hawk.

I think it might be a Northern Harrier. They are the larger of the hawks that are similar looking. If you see it flying away from you, it will have an obvious white patch on its rump.

Biggest accomplishment of the week was integrating my 2 serama into the bantam coop. Now I can have my garage back! They seem pretty happy.
I raked and removed the top layer of dirt and put in some piles of nice fresh soil for them.


Cockerel and pullet down in front were a little leery at first.

Most of the older girls seemed unconcerned.

100 Hot Wheels...lol, I can see that. yes indeed. I just love the look on her face in that picture, genuinely happy and a bit of the old baby face that is almost all gone.

someone over at Group of Seven thought our Big Bird was a Harrier too. after looking at tons of photos, it's the closest I could find, but I did miss it flying away. it sat in the tree for nearly an hour and a half, all told. I'll see it again. fortification will be the rule of thumb!

So much fun to have little kids around at Christmas. My guys are getting older, but they will still wake up early check the stockings. My 18 yr old got a job last week! My boy is working! and going to school. Wow. Not so long ago, he was Wrangler's age.

Wrangler is too funny - you know when you say the same thing at the same time and it's jinx...? she always said Jinx! You owe me a Coke! Now she says You owe me a dozen chicks. I think I'm up to 120...
