Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I candled, and had to toss two with blood rings. Only could see veining in one of the remaining twelve. It was too dark in there!
I am having trouble reading all the posts on my phone this past week. I really hope I have my computer back before hatching starts!!!

UGH i know, the BCM i could not see a thing. used 2 of the led lights. Hope the pc is fixed soon, I would be NUTS I have 2 laptops going all the time!

several roosters so we will be filling the freezer.
Is WeeWee brooding the babies for you at night? That would be so cool. Paddy's a hulk! There's some vitamin supplement that's supposed to help with wry neck, but I can't remember what it is.

FOUR......FOUR MORE DAYS TILL HATCH DAY.
Both broodys sitting tight. Roger has her head down trying with all her might. Big BO is completely flat. Growling and rolling eggs can be heard coming from the maternity ward.

My oh my, the broody thing is contagious this spring. I've had 3 sorta-wannabe-broodies, but now the forth (buff Ameraucana) seems much more serious than the others, who gave up when I took their eggs away. This one is doing the pancake thing, growling, and making a creepy screechy noise right before she goes for the attack. She didn't try to bite me when I took her eggs and put her outside the coop for some food and water. She did, however go after the dog
ep.gif
(poor Scooter got out of her way fast) and she fluffed up huge (like a puffer-chicken) and with her mighty velociraptor screech easily faced down the dominant hen. Not roosting tonight, but sitting on an empty nest. Seems very serious.

Animal, great pictures, they look bigger already.

Wishing, these foreign chickens are crazy lol...actually I know it's tommy because I locked her in the shed and when I let her out I found the warm white eg. Mary was dust bathing. I was sure army laid an egg earlier in the year, she was the first to have comb and coloring. I got a cream ish colored egg the other day and a white one so I think that is Mary's. today I got eight eggs. 3 in the green/blue and five browns....neither white girl got to work, and a brown layer held out. Based on the past three days I think they are all laying, but i can't prove a thing until I have an eleven day. I'm debating adding more nesting boxes. They won't use the higher areas....but the hay bale outside the coop is Tommy's favorite place....and she decided to teach one of my EE aboutittoday. I swear she whispers into their ears .

OK ...good luck this weekend. I can't wait to hear about Rogers experience. I wonder how she will react when the peeping begins. Please keep us informed, as I'm sure it will bring laughs.

Jc the ducks are so cute , they make me want to cuddle them.

Cheeka are you still working double duty for your coworker who is ill. How is he? It's scary to see someone so young have heart problems. I constantly worry about that for my husband, as he loves his red meat and hates salad. He has been eating a lot healthier since we got married though. The kids make him pay attention to his diet more than anything.

Well....to say I had an interesting forty eight hours is about how I can sum it up. My dog has been acting up since Sunday evening around 1am. She started barking her head off. Usually Maggie alerts when there is an animal. Of course my first thought is the chickens. I see nothing going on near the shed or the garbage cans ...put her outside she pees n the other two dogs roam. Five minutes later back inside to their crate. Barking begins as soon as I lay down. Hubby was home and woke up to yell at the dogs. She barked all night long ...hubby left for the week at five am...she barked more ...I let her out again. She did this all morning. She hates the rain yet went outside and sat in the yard ...didn't bark. I couldn't leave her outside all day but couldn't figure out the problem. I tried taking her sister upstairs or the dog I am dog sitting...nothing made her happy unless she was with me in the kitchen or outside. Now this is odd behavior because she's nine years old or so(adopted rescue) and she always has slept in her crate WITH her sister . I fact they cry if put in separate crates next to each other. It's weird. Anyways last night Maggie slept on my floor in my bedroom. It's the first night of her life with us that she has ever been allowed to sleep out of the crate. She didn't make a noise or move. I gave her yogurt and garlic yesterday. Called two different eats. Both agreed it was behavioral. One said she could run some bloodwork but didn't see the point. Her poop was fine, pee was clear, eating. Normal. It was just weird. I walked her in the morning ( she normally doesn't walk ...actually she used to just lay down in the road because she was too fat) anyways now to Gina she finally went down to the crate and it appears she is going to sleep downstairs again. Weird right? No one has a clue as to why she did that. I assume maybe her tummy hurt and she didn't want to be alone. She wanted me to go everywhere with her. I took my son to the bus and she cried...it was just a crazy day with her . I woke up all night to make sure she was breathing because she was so quiet in the bedroom, and as much as i complain about her, i still remember the day she climbed ontop of her sister inmy lap and fell asleep. my husband said to her foster mom, what if we take both? The woman handed over their paperwork right away, before he changed his mind. They came to us starving little naughty puppies and seeing her last night reminded me how old she has gotten, and how much we all love her. Well, sorry for the long story, off to bed now.

Good luck with your incubating and hope you get your computer soon. I have enough trouble reading the posts on a laptop. Phone would be practically impossible.

I lost my bit of Jersey accent when we moved to CA. I was 6. Now I guess I don't have an accent. Or do I?

Very strange about your dog. It's kind of spooky, isn't it? What breed is she? I thought maybe she was hearing something high pitched that you couldn't hear, but then the other dog would react too. Maybe she could smell something that triggered the barking. For the vets to say it is behavioral is strange. If she's never done it before, it must be caused by something. Hormones, thyroid, senility?

My dog gets set off by things and won't quit sometimes. There is a particular neighbor that really gets her going (!) and any hint of a raccoon or skunk or rats (she really hates rats) and she becomes a crazed psycho dog. She tore her ACL in psycho mode.

We adopted her from a Tennessee rescue shortly after Katrina, basically being told she was a Black and Tan coonhound. I had my doubts since the foster said they couldn't adopt her or her brother out because of their coloring. Apparently adopting out dark black and brown dogs is a lot more difficult then white, creams, and tans. So here I am...pretty sure she is mixed mutt of coonhound and Rottweiler. She is honestly always been food driven and goes psycho over "invading animals" squirrels, raccoons, field mice, chipmunks. But psycho stops with. Water guns or being yelled at. She had a bad chewing habit as a puppy. We are pretty sure she starved when she was younger. First day home she ate so much she puked and then ate that too..or tried to...she ate bags of dirt I had purchased off the deck. Chewed half a step off our gazebo.....it was bad in the beginning. She dug trenches in the backyard( we figure she was boobytrapping) But she is the most loyal dog. Her sister ( not from same litter just got them together) is the brains of the operation. Emma is a manipulator, Maggie is the muscle. Mind you my father kept Maggie for over a year and she got to weigh over 100lbs. I immediately put her on a diet. Anyways I just don't get it. My SIL was thinking maybe she thought I was sick or needed her protection. My husband is wondering if a bird flew into the chimney or something and she hears it? The cat was sleeping down there too and was 'tint he alert stage so it's anyone's guess. Now the baby is keeping me up....teething YaY...one day I will sleep an entire eight hours....and it will be good.

Sally, I admire you for your patience, The dogs are very confused right now. Its soo hard! They needed to find you, glad they did.

Wow! love all the pics AL and JCH! AL, you have a blue one about half way down, with wings spread, lovely.... they are all so cute! JCH, Paddy is so big, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, but I do know how you feel about putting him out...

the sick carrier is doing well, he came home from the hospital on Monday. he'll be out for at least a couple of weeks. I'm still helping over there whenever I can. today I am on the 91 mile route in Gilboa, so there is no ability to help there today. will help tomorrow and Saturday (double routes; G'boa first). Friday, I do a double; my route in Gilboa, and a small route in Jefferson...and I am OFF on Sunday!

I used a children's multivitamin that I pulverized in the food processor, and mixed in with food. it was less than 3 days before Carl no longer showed any signs of wry neck or whatever it was that he had... I gave the vitamin for probably a month, and when I stopped, I watched for signs of the problem returning, but it did not return at all. he's quite straight and handsome now. but I won't use him for breeding... I will eat him in another 2 months or so...

16 EGGS! this is just way too cool!!! It never gets old... finding eggs... 3 of the 4 corners of the apple coop had multiple eggs, and there were 3 in the dome as if the pullets weren't expecting them yet, just laying on the ground... nice free ranging this afternoon, got a cute video of Pebble taking a dust bath. it will be up on youtube in about 45 minutes...

Olive has taken on a surrogate mothering role with Pebble. Peach is glued to the nest, and I put 5 eggs under her this afternoon, which she hid underneath herself right away. and I put the date on my calendar so I won't forget this time when hatchday approaches! Olive is so sweet with him, makes me happy that he has someone since his Mama gave him the boot!
