After taking W4W's advice I gave big broody 14 eggs. Then Roger went broody and I gave her four or five of big broodys eggs. I made a lot of mistakes or the hatch numbers would have been much higher. Many of the unhatched eggs had chicks in them. Only a few were rotton and not developed. Big broody and I will do much better next time. Looking forward to it. So to answer your question I gave big broody 14
I notice you are not giving Roger more eggs! Ha ha!
I candled the incubator eggs. 2 definite blood rings and veining in one egg. I saw blood rings in others, but not as pronounced. I am hopeful.
The majority are chocolate eggs, so I am hopeful for those too.
I am gonna be so ticked if I get only one chick, and it is mine. I was worried what I would do with one chick. Duh! Give it to the broody with her chicks!
If next week doesn't look better, I will give the one with veining to Baby. She can hatch it with her's. Only problem is that the incubator is a day or two ahead of her. Not a big deal. I may give her anything else that came from my coops, and looks promising. There are only four eggs.
Buffy isn't back into broody mode. False alarm. Midnight seemed to be better. Then I bathed her again, and brought her back outside to her own little coop. I had one of her legs forward. I think I re-injured her. Tonight she looked like she was trying to move again. If it were anything but a hurt leg, she would be dead by now. So, that is what I an sticking with. BTW, it was last Friday (the 10th) that she slept on the floor, and was acting funny the next day. I can only guess the greenish poo was from an empty crop.
13 eggs today. Only one from under Baby since yesterday morning.
She doesn't get mad at me for lifting her up, but if I go near her, she does make a noise.
