Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I so want to take a few chickens to walmart for ... just to say I did it...

See you guys just had me all out crying laughing with those pictures. This is why its the first place I come when I come to byc. Thank you so much for the laugh, I needed it after arguing with the husband. So he is working on the big remodel today....and yesterday....and last year lol... Anyway I swear the man doesn't listen. I know he learns from seeing but sometimes I need him to just get it. I shouldn't be this cranky with him because he was really cute the past two days out there with the chickens all around him while he is working and asking me how to dose their water etc... He was panelling the side when I noticed him say he left space for the nest boxes. The space is so high that I would not be able to see what I was grabbing and I would need a good four to six inches of bedding just to get the eggs to my hand. He was thinking for his height :( not me or shorter people like the kids.

I took a picture of some of the girls today, combs are so much darker. I also put out a feeler for some eggs...

Violet played the egg switching game... she had rolled out 3 of the marked eggs and took about 8 of the non-fertile eggs. it couldn't have been too long, or another hen had sat on them while laying... they were still very toasty warm. she was cooperative about switching them back and didn't roll any out by the end of the day. I think I have 12 eggs, maybe 13... Peach laid today

I have one of those bossy rooster-like hens. it's Rose, my other RIR. caught her on top of one of the younger girls... I have noticed that many of my girls now look like they have monk style feathers around their heads...bald rings and bald spots...

Mylee was so good today, no nap and no "grumpy old troll" behavior! she's already tucked into bed watching the Lion King. I can get a few things done around here that I've neglected for Mylee's sake... it would be boring or unsafe... or just cuz I wanted to play and attend to her rather than pull up carpet. the carpet in the dining room is 40 years old, hideous and disintegrating. did I mention it's shag? ugh. I've lived with it for a dozen years. it's time to get rid of it.

If she is broody by tomorrow I fully expect the devil to go full blown broody too. She can not stand attention diverted away from her. I won't mention any names
