Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

lol Whoops, you're girls are getting so close! and they will all peck at eggs, or anything you hold out to them, because you hold food out for them... it's natural. but if you have an egg eater, there is likely nothing at all left, not even a visible smear unless it has something (like another egg...) to smear on. it blends into hay, straw, shavings... but egg eating is not that common... keep hanging in there!

I collected 8 Eggs today. getting a nice full basket, so pretty... I have customers who will make those disappear quickly!

Snow tomorrow!!! Somewhere around 6-12 inches!!! Thankfully I can work from home which will be nice so I can make sure the girls have unfrozen water thru out the day.

Hopefully they aren't eating them Whoops!

Definitely want to see egg and chick pictures Sully! WOO HOO, Fluffies!!!!!

I took my guys some more sprouts out today... They were BOSS and millet (thanks Cheeka!) The millet sprouts so easily and it is pretty! Cheeka you have to try it! If you think they go after the seeds, you should see them go after the sprouts!!!!

Clyde got out of the dog crate on accident today. Evidently his days in "Jail", made him rethink his fighting attitude. He has spent the day running from Blue, and flying the coop! LOL..... Unfortunately, "Jail" hasn't improved Rogue's attitude, and he started picking on his 'cell mates'. So, the younger Marans boys are back out with everyone else, and Rogue is in solitary! 5 days til freezer camp......
Looks yummy! Rogue sounds a lot like Bruce was. Its a totally different coop with him gone.
Yeesh, Hattie raced across the yard just now to get to me to squat. Maybe she will beat the Barred One to this laying business? I am a little suspicious that she is laying and Hattie is eating the eggs, but it seems like there would be shells or something left. Anyway, I bought them a present today - some ceramic eggs. Maybe it will put the idea in there heads, and also discourage them from eating eggs? I showed them the ceramic egg, and them pecked at it. This does not seem like a good sign. . .
Ceramic eggs can also break the egg eating habit. Another trick is to blow out some eggs, fill with mustard. From what I read, they don't like the taste.
I keep a few in all the nestboxes so new girls always see them in there.

Wanted to share a couple pics of my oldest peachick...Oldest BR poult, a hen is on the left..

Close up, DD holding "it" am thinking cock... Was not happy to be held, either!

Much larger than my other 2. Couldn't get close to the stinkers to get pictures, and didn't want to frighten them.
We had 2 quail eggs today

-0- from all the coops. 4-5" snow on the way!

wow Janet, "he" is gorgeous! I'm thinking male as well... I'm surprised you're not getting chicken eggs still - many, if not most, of my girls have resumed even if it is sporadic...

lindz, you know I will be sprouting both of those wonderful seeds! I should have started some over the weekend... but furnace issues and a failing alternator in my truck needed immediate attention... all is fixed and fine, thank goodness! as the frigid weather is back. it's below zero without the wind chill - and the winds are coming today. we'll be experiencing -30 on average for the next several days.

at least it's too cold to snow! my tractor got a flat tire last week, and the new tire came by UPS yesterday - I'm glad it didn't snow more than it did... but at least now I can plow their yard... although no one wants to come out in the frigid temps...

Hey can you open the stupid door and free us prisoners. We would like to get outside for a while.
My bad. It is 18 degrees and the temp is falling rapidly. Six inches of new snow and still snowing. Wind is blowing from 20 to 30 miles per hour. The wind driven snow has buried your run with snow. I can hear you screaming bloody murder. I will be right out. I'm sure you want to soak up some frostbite today
