Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

the deed is done. the Foster roosters are now people food.

I let the whole flock out this afternoon, it was about 30* and very sunny. everyone was hesitant, so I scattered some BOSS....... haven't looked at the pics yet, but should have a few good ones. when it was time to go in, I put Royce with the Foster girls, he was a bit confused at first when I pointed him home and it was his "old" door... but he went in and the girls all followed

. he was quite happy, when I left, he was inside the nest box calling softly - and one of the BO's joined him. next week, I'll make more changes, give him the girls I want to collect fertile eggs from.

I still have to make one more round to check, but I have 8 Eggs so far, and expect an egg from EE Opal, as she was sitting when I put everyone up...

Roger this picture is for you! Rooster in a pot!

We are having dumplings tonight. At least that is what I am attempting to make. Never made any so Granny is on speed dial!

So far I have gotten 8 eggs today and left with 2 fighting over the same nest. Every one is out in the yard pilfering around. I gave them the ladt of the millet sprouts today. I am going to have to find some more around here. They loved it! Thanks cheeka!

Oh Yum! dumplings really are easy... I just try to make them fairly the same size and drop them in the simmering broth, then I add a can of evaporated milk for that addictive creamy quality... Bisquick is a great blend, easy recipe, and they now have it gluten free!
