Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I am sorry about your bread, OK. I am the GD of a baker, so I am perfect.

Not!
My new FF system is awesome! I had some wicked fermenting goin' on with the chicken feed, and the dog food was finally fermented on day 2. I changed the system for him too.
Penny and Baby are laying me some eggs. Baby on the floor (we are being patient. The others did it too) and Penny in her box. I will leave eggs in the nests for a few days. See id Baby notices. I am hoping Coffee is next. She looks like she should be.

To be fair, the mix is probably designed for an automatic bread maker....it prob doesn't include specifics to make it without the machine. Now krusteaze makes a better mix than some...but dollars to donuts way more expensive than it should be...costs as much as a reg designer loaf! All they do is add a few herbs which you can easily do yourself. I think mark bittman is the best cook and author around...he takes fancy dancy gourmet recipes and cuts out the nonsense and puts it pretty clear straight forward directions. Get a copy of his 'how to cook everything' and you won't be dissapointed....my copy is held together with gorilla tape. I love to cook. I hate my kitchen, which is why we are remodeling it this winter....my husband the builder said he knows how to design a kitchen but when I started asking him why he is putting this here and there....well...I just said STOP, here is the plan I drew up...and if you ever want a descent meal again..... Currently I am on the look out for a large marble slab for pastry and such. You'd think bread would be easy....and it is, AFTER you get the feel for it. Bittman explains the process and takes the mystery out of it better than anyone. Good luck!

You husband is right. The box lied.
Actually that was from my #2son. (I think he posted here once.) He's 11 and likes to cook. Fate saddled him with the wrong mommy. I'm glad you haven't given up. If I tried something like that, the loaf would be flat and blackened. The cooking gods do not smile upon me, but the parking gods do, as I can usually find great parking spots, even when it's crowded in front of the bakery!

I still haven't tried the FF. Guess I'm a bit resistant because it's kind of like having to cook for the animals.

Still think it's a good idea though.

We built the perfect sized nest boxes, the precise height off the floor, all safe and cozy and private. Laying paradise. When Matilda went broody and hogged a nest box, I put a cardboard box on the floor to alleviate the long wait in line for the remaining nests; you know, just in case. So now half of them prefer that cardboard box I stuck down below! Crazy chickens.

There's your perfect Xmas present for your son...the cookbook...he'll love it...and you get a chef! Win-win. I get the spots too! Esp at the beach, which is almost impossible...but it helps to know where the unmarked county owned places are (its not who you are, but who you know) ! Ff is easy once you have a system....its not cooking, it just adding water when the level goes down, and it does save money, and provide better nutrition. Good stuff!

Good Afternoon Everyone! it's a chore day here, and I hate housework. I'd rather cook... actually, I'd rather read over everything... but eh... I have to eat, and I can't stand a dirty house. messy, sure, "lived in looking"... but not dirty, and because of all the months of working, it's kinda grubby here. I have already taken care of the workroom, where all the cats littler boxes are, and laundry, and changed the chicks litter ~ I took pictures of them each as I put them back but most of them are blurry, so I have to retake them later. they have such pretty feathered wings already.

I stopped to get some feeds on the way home and grabbed a bag of millet for the chicks, sprinkled it in the clean litter, and boy are they having a ball! scratching around and finding the seeds... just like chickens!

bbl! oh and 2 eggs so far, both EE's laid for me
