Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

JCH, talk about growing fast! Paddy is looking great! Wee Wee is quite beautiful, so cool she claimed Paddy.

W4W, it sure is nice to have the additional pullets... the older girls definitely need a break. I do need to make a bachelor pen. I only have the portable run, and I really wanted to put Peach and her chick in there when the chick grows big enough to not slip through the chain link at roost height. I can use it for the boys in the meantime, and maybe find something better for Peach and her chick...

at last update, Dana is doing great, walking and waiting... we are excited to have an Easter birth.

How far away are they from you? Is Dana your daughter or DIL? How exciting!

Wonderful news! Tell her keep changing up what she is doing and it will help. So exciting for her!

Thanks, WeeWee is my favorite bird here, I love her eyes and her sweet temperament. Wish the whites were as gentle, Big G can be but rarely tries to anymore.
Can you do a small hoop coop maybe, like a nursery/hospital one? I used an old roofed feeder station we had for the last goats, and turned it into a small "coop" and a run for my guineas. Used 4 Ft chain link for the run. Covered it with deer netting to keep them in, the buggers fly like crazy! It looks ugly, I have to paint it yet, but will post pics if it doesn't rain all day tomorrow.
My guineas have lost their free range privileges, permanently!

I left them in there for a month, let them out yesterday. The 2 cocks, Jekyll and Hyde IMMEDIATELY attacked Red, and the hen, Prissy attacked spike!

Poor lil Quasey, she went and hid in the big coop. No eggs yet either. So their days are numbered here, If I can't rehome, they will be stew. Quasey will return to the main flock, She is still a doll, I will just get keets and raise a few for next year. Maybe stick with pearls, the whites are physco!

Dana is my step daughter and she lives outside of Boston MA, about 3 hours drive. I was with her Dad for 16 years, from the time she was 9 and her brother (Matthew) was 13. He's 34 now, father to Mylee. Dana is 30 and this is her first child. She married her high school sweetheart last May. we all had a unique story to share at their wedding. Dana's MIL admitted to saving all the pictures of Dana and Chris, she couldn't part with them even though they had parted from each other... well... I saved all the pictures too, and so did Dana's Mom... since then, we've sent hundreds of pictures off to them to make family albums starting from way way in the beginning.

even tho' their Dad and I split up, and it was not easy or amicable in the beginning, it ended more than civilly. we are good friends, and the "kids" still include me in their lives, something I am grateful and thankful for. I never had children of my own.

JCH, I'll come up with something for Peach and her chick... it will just take a little creative thinking... and searching the garages for stuff I can use... that's how I came up with the dome... I do still have pipe available, and more than half of a 60' roll of h.w. cloth. my wonderful mechanic... whose daughter loves my eggs... offered to bend pipes for me, so I probably will do something like that...

And now you get to be a grandma X2! A parent is more than just a gene donor, and kids don't forget someone who truly cares for them. Keep us posted about the new little guy. Are you going to get any sleep tonight?
