Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I have 7 EE (6 are from an Ameraucana, but the baby daddy could be an Am or a RIR) and 7 BCM. The Marans are not going to be quality. Moms are not quality themselves. Both are laying light colors. As soon as I am secure in my hatching abilities (or get a broody) I am getting some proper colored BCM eggs from the same woman. She saw the eggs, and apologized. I need to hurry because she wants to get out of BCM, and she is just waiting to give me my eggs.
Question (another one!). If the trio I have is safe to breed, will the eggs be safe? I am ASSUMING that the current trio are not siblings. So any eggs I get from the same woman I assume are also not all the same father. Yes, I will ask her. But how many times can you let a brother mate a sister?
Is that confusing?
When the new girls have babies, can I sell the babies straight run, and let the new owner hatch from them?

Siblings probably shouldn't be mated. (At least not for more than one generation.) I thought it was the roo that was bred back to the pullets? Don't know how many generations though. Sounds like you are planning olive eggers.

Thanks everybody for the advice. The thought of Roger teaching little chicks everything is a scary thought. Lets hope she takes this mommy business serious. (Not going to happen). I will take your advice and give her a few eggs. Remember you all have to hear about it if this turns into organized crime. (and it will)....Don't really see any choice because she is not going to let another hen steal the show and take attention away from her.(were talking BR here) Today is day 14. I will candle after dark to see if eggs look like they will hatch. If most of the eggs look good I will give the devil a few so she can turn them into monsters.(against my better judgement). Have not candled yet so been reading up on that. Will report back tonight after dark with a update.

OK, give her some of the breed you only wanted a couple of. Then you can sell the little minions and share the joy. If she's been on a nest all this time, she's pretty serious.

My BO has been occupying a nest pretty consistently for a few days, although she roosts at night, but that might be because we take the eggs away. I offered her some golf balls which she greedily, but tenderly took and shoved under. She's also starting to pull and arrange feathers.

I don't want a broody now. I'd rather have eggs!

Gave Roger three eggs. First egg I candled was a" helper egg" I assume. It was clear when I held it to the light. The next three all had dark areas inside them and I marked them and gave them to Roger. Don't want to give her too many just yet because she is in the favorite nest box and it is still getting a lot of traffic with the other hens laying in the box beside her. Afraid they might get broke. So if all goes well next Friday night three poor innocent chicks will have a mommy named Roger who will take full advantage (and credit for) the conception, 21 day gestation period, and pain and suffering in which she will expect to be generously compensated for by me.

Quote: Only the EE egg is going to be an OE. Not sure why I didn't hatch more of the EE eggs. I want OE. I guess it was all just so sudden! From my husband asking if I wanted an incubator, to having it. I just grabbed eggs.
Know what? Typing this out, I realize I do have more EE eggs in there. The eggs were only from three days. I only have one Am. and 2 EE. Huh! I guess I will have some OE in there! Yeay!
The original plan with breeding was to hatch from one rooster and the two girls. I was going to sell the chicks. Never thought about siblings mating. I guess it will work if I tell the buyer that the chicks are siblings, and they shouldn't be mating together.
Anyway... Sally said to get the temp back up to 102. I will see if I can stabilize it tonight. Next step is the closet. I will not make jokes about the chicks coming out of the closet.

I just finished candling all of the eggs. I think of 14 eggs, 10 will hatch at this point. I have to look some stuff up before opening the eggs. I don't "want" to see what the chick looked like. But if I don't, I will keep wondering.

my girls are on a roll! 10 eggs again today! it was crisp today, 50*, sunny in the afternoon.

Peach taught Pebble how to roost for sleeping tonight. it was cute, I did get a few pics at the end, wanted to get a video when I realized what was happening... but by the time I got the camera from inside the house, all the good jostling was over when I got back outside. but... Pebble was desperate to get under his Mama while on the roost. she kept shoving him back, giving him a gentle peck, he was peeping loudly in protest... but he got the hang of it, and she did cover him with her wing.

can't remember anything else... busy time coming up... carrier in nearby office had a heart attack last night. he's alive and recovering, but it's scary, he's 35. 2 little kids. I will cover his route til he can come back. I'm so pooped... g'nite everyone! double route tomorrow! yee haw!

Good luck MC, I am the same way, I want to see why they didn't develop, or hatch. Its the only way to improve your hatching rate. I have gosling #4 hatching now, and the last 5 BCM failed. I checked, 3 weren't fertile, and 2 looks like several hairline cracks in the shell, and the egg dried out. so out of 13 we got 8, not bad for 2nd shipped eggs attempt! Now i have to wake my brain up and remember how to get the percentage....
OK - I have high hopes this will be ROGER'S calling! She can be remembered in chicken history as the queen broody BR!!!
