Surprising turn. Fed Cherry about 15cc at 5 when I got home. She was so feisty! Got my finger a time or two. Still weak, and not wanting to stand though. But gave up a good wing flapping when I went to pick her up. Took her outside for some vitamin sun. I think it cures everything :)

Went to a meeting, boringggg, came home and gave her another 15ccs of slurry. She tried to walk away from me! How ungrateful :p. I thawed out some veggies and put a spoonful of tuna salad and scratch on a plate. She went to town! Ate about 6 kernels of corn, 6 peas, then ate several good pecks of scratch and crumble.

Moved several times. She still doesn't want to stand up completely. I imagine she is still weak. She also seems to be clearing her throat? You know how some animals stretch their necks/open their mouths when they have some lodged or are regurtating? That's what she is doing when eating solid food. Thoughts?

She was also grooming herself :)

Is it possible wet feed could have caused this? Last week it rained and it soaked the feed in their feeder. Was wet for about 2 days, and I just dumped about 2lbs of wet food into the run when it stopped raining to empty the feeder to give them dry crumble. Everyone loved the wet feed. :-/

Yes, mold can cause neurological symptoms as can vitamin B deficiency. She does not look like the typical Marek's case (glad you showed a pic!). Chickens with Marek's usually have one leg forward and one back. Since she is not up and around like normal, she may have something stuck. You can give her a bit of olive oil and massage her throat and crop to see if it dislodges. Also make sure she is getting some grit to grind up all the good food you are feeding her. Hope she keeps improving.

SBMom, great news! I'm with W4W on all counts. the wet feed could definitely have molded in that short span of time...and I can tell you a true horror story of vitamin B deficiency and its effects on the human body within the medical model! because I have celiac... my body will malabsorb nutrients. a few years back, my body decided it would no longer absorb vitamin B12 and B6. the neurological symptoms that came on were striking and sudden. I couldn't walk, my feet would drop. my body felt like I had spiders crawling on me, my clothes felt like they were made of brillo pads and my thinking was full of fog. that was just the beginning. after many expensive and sometimes painful tests, I was told that I have Multiple Sclerosis. (I do not) it took months, but a wonderful MS specialist figured out that my Celiac had advanced, as it does... and vit B12 deficiency is a perfect MS mimic. the only strange part was the multiple lesions on my brain, but now we know that happens with advanced C..... I got B12 shots for a couple of years, stopped a few months ago to see if my body would start absorbing on its own, hanging in there, not too symptomatic, I can live with it. my babies eggs must be so loaded with the vitamin that I'm getting at least enough to stave off the brain fog and some of the most severe symptoms, still wobbly on my feet most of the time, but, like I said, I can live with it! SO! I really hope your little one keeps improving hour by hour! you are doing a wonderful job providing for her!
