Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I guess my hatching eggs will be here tomorrow... nothing today. they are coming from Birmingham Alabama. 6+ Silver and Gold Laced Wyandottes. the eggs probably will primarily be SLW as the seller has more of those, and she sends extra eggs with every order, sometimes Silkie... so we'll see what I get... I only want two pullets.

anything else that hatches will go up to my second flock in Gilboa. Roosters up there are okay. I have no room for more boys here without culling, which I will probably do. quite possibly today. I was only working the short route so I let the boys out first thing this morning. They've never bothered with Mylee. but Royce flogged her today. I talked to her on the phone, she was okay, but it did hurt and it did leave a mark. I asked her if she wants to eat him for supper, she said "Yes", so... I just got home, and she's napping, I haven't seen her boo boo yet. I have to go round up the boys now, and then I'll see what decisions I have to make. at the very least... he can't come out while she's here. she feeds him... I'm kind of surprised, but he's kicked me in the past, not since December tho', when he broke his toe.

ETA, went out with Mylee's other Grandma "Oma" and Royce immediately came to challenge ~ til he saw me. then he stopped, but he was ready to take me on if he felt he needed to... I could tell. but he's put away, and the hens are out. I'm cooking a nice late lunch/early dinner, Mylee's still nappin', it's gorgeous out... her kiddy pool is full and waiting, can't wait til she wakes up!

That Stinks Cheeka, I have heard horror stories of friendly roosters becoming attackers and children are easy targets. I hope Mylee is okay .

she's up and running, but she's got a bruise coming,
shaped like Royce's crooked foot.
she says he's mean, meanest she's seen!
and he really needs to be put
in the cooking pot
as he'll never stop
being as rotten as rotten can be!
she's right as rain,
he's such a pain
eating him is just fine with me!

the peonies are blooming, the pink one's are about a day behind...
12 13 Eggs today

2 black chicks and a yellow were out an hour ago. The one black was still wet.

I hate knowing they have to go. I am really hoping for a good hatch since I am selling them.
The chicks are most likely to be EE, small chance for RIR mix. What can I charge? $1 is okay, but I think $2 is pushing it. Any thoughts?

I don't think $2 is pushing it at all, as a matter of fact, I think $3 is reasonable even for mixed breeds, you're not that far from me... that's the going rate that I've seen, outside of freebies...

yeah, hatcheries charge $3-4 and on up... you're private stock now... every generation you can get away from the hatchery... the better for the chickens... and for you too!
