Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Do they have a special season for F250 hunting? Saw in your New Member intro that you are in New Jersey. I lived in Neptune when I was little. Moved out here when I was 6. Still miss the sight and smell of the fall leaves and wild huckleberries and box turtles and warm ocean water and summer rain. Oh, and fireflies. Really miss the fireflies. Not so much the snow, though.

It's amazing but I've taken fireflies for granted. I had friends from England over this summer and they had never seen them. Needless to say they were totally amazed. When it's dusk and there's literally thousands lighting up in the back yard it's pretty impressive.

P.S - Once a Jersey Girl always a Jersey Girl! You can take the girl outta Jersey but you can never take the Jersey outta the girl!

I didn't know there aren't fireflies out west... wonder why? I will miss them too if that's the case... frankly, I thought they would have them in England too...

Hello everybody. Did you hear about the flood we had? You can see the water mark on the coop back there. Well I made it thru that ordeal. Thankfully we had plenty of food stored offsite that was trucked in. If you want to send donations you can inbox me for my address. Please do not send money as we can only accept PIE. My friend cheeka will see that it gets to me and if there is too much I will share it with my sisters but that is not likely. Alright guys.... I need help!

So, I went and picked up the new girls last night. Everyone is settling in very well. All the other girls had a really good day foraging and dust bathing!



Then here is the kicker!
I went and got 3 more black copper maran chicks!

I am pretty sure that they are girls by comparing them to my definate boys! Hubby thinks I have gone CR@zY!

I don't know why though!?

I guess I will be getting pictures in the morning.... I put them under Clarabelle after dark tonight, and she acted like nothing was different! Boy is she going to be surprised in the morning!

She now has 10 chicks under her, and it is a good thing that they are starting to get feathers since her little butt can't cover them all completely! The good thing is that they are in the bigger coop which stays a little warmer than the little one.
