Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

omg, there is a barred rock in that group. actually 2... but there is 1 that has to have eaten another chicken. think she weighs 10 lbs!

We deserve everything we get for messing with those BR goofballs......I mean angels. Two bags of feed? 10 pound BR?

up early, missing my babies... brought out a special oatmeal-corn-millet breakfast with a bag of wilted salad on the side. of course, everyone is fine, just a deviation from the normal routine to not see them yesterday afternoon... and without the extra snack... they really cleaned up their runs, virtually no feed left in the dome, which is good. I found my 2 regular eggs from the store bought coop floor, not the nest box... wonder if they were kicked out of the nest or laid in the middle... AND a THIRD egg from the new pen! really nice jumbo pink/cream! all I've been collecting are pee wee pullet eggs, it was seriously nice to find a big'n! the little white hen was happy to see me and ate from my hand again, and the rest were happily scratching for the millet and corn I sprinkled around before refilling their feed bowl... I like the big white rooster. thinking I will be keeping him... I was out there before full sunrise, so I'll have to get pics later, I'm going to try to get finished with work early, and go visit my cousin. the big hospital is about an hour away...

Delaware rooster is a good looking bird. I have another one I need to rehomeat......got room for one more?

LOL OK, sure - send him on down, I'm sure that new BR will make easy work of him. munch munch munch...!
a couple of the new birds took a few moments to settle down, and they caused enough ruckus to get the white roo crowing, which got Royce crowing, then one of the D'Uccles... pitch dark and waking everyone up.
using the little flashlight again, I could see the 2 BR's, and what looks like a BO and some more NH's. the newest rooster is Royce's age, quite large and apparently, he's not so nice... perhaps the big change will settle him down some. all I could see is he's red. one of the hens is broody according to the lady, that one didn't want to get up on the roost, so I put her in the nest. she wouldn't stay and I needed to get the light off... so I put her back on the roost and she stayed put.
I'm not certain that I will be keeping all these birds. I offered to give the ones he's attached to back, once he's settled his problems and has a place to live. she won't tell him where they are, but would get them back to him if he wants them. I don't want to be in the middle of some strangers problems, but, the birds need to be cared for...

the new group is 2 BR's, 2 BO's, and 2 RSL's, plus the large NH rooster. he's okay, stayed pretty far away from me. all are doing just fine this morning.

OK, what is [COLOR=B22222]she[/COLOR] doing to get ready for Christmas? It is only 3 weeks away!

Due to a hard molt and fear of missing a meal Roger will be staying home this year to work on her wish/demand list and attemp to torture me into submission .

actually, all these new birds are big, and fat. and clearly hand fed. every one of them ate from my hand this morning. including big Mr. over here...
(big Mr. supposedly chases everyone... he was a perfect gentleroo for me. no challenge. he ate from my hand all dainty... the move must have stressed the cockiness out of him...for now)
