Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Here is what we had this morning. Not a huge amount but definitely enough to be dangerous. The kids had a 2- hour delay this morning. We have a chance for snow showers tonight and tomorrow then again over the weekend. It isn't really bothering the chickens. I got 3 eggs this morning and will probably get at least one more.

have really missed our thread. My 3 calves had scours, this is bad stuff like parvo in dogs almost!.
Horribly fast bacterial infection. After almost a week fighting it day and night, I was only able to save little Ribeye

I had my cow first aid kit set up already or I would have lost all 3.
In the process, not sleeping, or taking care of myself while this was going on, I got E Coli myself.
I have been horribly sick for almost 2 weeks. Nonstop vomiting, etc it was just awful!
Had to see the Dr to get over it. Lost 11 pounds in the process so I weigh a whopping 102 now

Going to try to at least read what I missed! Glad to be back

I was wondering what happened to you! So sorry about your calves. You were so happy to get them. Is little Ribeye going to be lonely without his buddies?

Glad you are feeling better. E.coli is bad sh stuff. 11 lbs on you is a lot, too. The silver lining

to losing all that weight right before the holidays is you can eat it all!

Glad you are back.

the mail was 2.5 hours late again, and really heavy volume. just tons of letters and parcels... no way for the other carrier whose route is larger than mine to finish on time, so I took about 30% of hers and still had to go do about 30% of the route that I was scheduled to work half of...I finished in the pitch dark, around 6, got home at 7 and didn't disturb the flock to check for eggs. I knew I would have a long day so I overfed them this morning...but I honestly didn't expect to have to work 3 routes and deal with the dome light on and off so I could read who's next and then be able to see to drive... I want to retire.

Here are all my eggs from 11/22 until now.... 8 1/2 dozen. Plus I got 2 EE eggs today!!! So hopefully that means that someone besides Hershey (who has laid the entire time...) is finally settling in here, and coming out of a molt!

And here is the feeding frenzy yesterday morning!

Beautiful eggs, Lindz!

Cheeka, I don't envy you your job this time of year. The dog wouldn't stop barking tonight and then I realized the mail truck was in the driveway. Carrier needed a signature. If you have to get out and wait for people to sign, that must add a ton of time. Maybe you could get one of those lights you can wear strapped to your forehead. My eyes are getting too old to see to read in the dark anymore. I can remember my mom yelling at me when I read in dim light as a kid. Turn on a light! You're going to ruin your eyes! Little did I know.

Oh yeah, only one egg today. Got 4 yesterday, though, so not too bad.

wow lindz! I see a whole lotta Christmas cookies, cakes n pies (oops, I said the P word) to be made with all those awesome eggs! Your ice storm pics are great, the more lethal, often the more beautiful... we have been having peculiarly mild weather - stayed in the mid to upper 30's all day, The 5 day forecast says it is supposed to be much colder starting tomorrow, roughly a 25* drop is expected for tomorrow night.

Wish everybody took pride in there job like you do. Hard to find people like you anymore. You can't retire till I mail Roger to you. Then you will have no choice cause thats all you will have time for waiting on her.
