Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Hecate, you can't get any redder.  It's time.  Pop out an egg, already.  Hattie, I know you are bonkers and confused on the issue, but you are a pullet, not a cockerel.  Think eggy thoughts.   I want Christmas eggs.

Sending good egg vibes your way!!!!

Jchny-prayers for your family! Tough time of year for health issues so sending good kidney vibes/prayers your way!!!

Mooooooved Ribeye in with Sophie and Sugar today! Sophie is such a bold little stinker!
She ran up and danced at him, then dashed away! He was actually playing a little too

Sugar was a little afraid at first, but realized pretty fast Ribeye is a big baby something...
I don't think her prior owner had cattle, just horses.
Bocephus is NOT happy to see that big thing in there with his ladies however!
He was stomping and snorting for hours after dark. He is 50 feet away from the girls so they don't pick up that buck odor from him.
Found a huge stash of chicken eggs under my milking stanchion while I raked out the stalls and put fresh straw down.
Most were frozen, I think thats probably lucky for me because they really stunk

Dumped them in the compost heap along with the old straw.
Wonder how many other egg stashes will turn up, we are clearing the lean-to out on the barn tomorrow.
Dad has stacks of milk crates and cardboard boxes of newspapers by the ton under there, ugh

He said he may need them to start a fire. Ya, a barn fire! Oh boy, Dad....

I kept my mouth shut.
So I want to say we laid 23 eggs today, but

i don't think they count!

we got socked pretty good up on the hill... a foot or more in most areas!

next to the bachelor pens is a bit protected, so while there was a foot of snow just beyond, there was only a few inches at the doorways.

most of the hens were hiding in the coop, but all are safe and cozy

a little bit of snow drifted in through the doorway on this side, but it was only a dusting, and just in one section... cleaned up easily

The snow is beautiful but a lot of work!! We got only about an inch and then it was washed away by rain.

The chickens went into their coop today. I actually decided to put the babies out too (tho they aren't such babies any more). I figured it'd be better to put them all out at once so nobody felt it was "their" territory. The older girls adapted right away and started searching for the scratch and mealworms. The little guys hid in a corner for about an hour before they came out. But last time I checked they were all mingling together.

They looked so big in the brooder (which is why I moved them) but no so small in their coop! I'm so glad they have more room now!!!!
