Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Woo hoo! Congrats on first eggs, and new peeps!!! Okay, the chicks aren't out yet. Ya know what I mean!
Eleven eggs today, and none looked broken! Ha ha! I found them all in time! It was actually funny this morning. I am in the other side of the coop feeding and watering. I grabbed the egg from the box in there, and went to check for the "roost" eggs. After that last break, I now have eggs being layed under/ off of the roosts. Anyway, there were 2 hens in the other boxes. It was just so beautiful to me! Not only were they laying again, but they were content to keep laying despite the excitement in the other side.
I have to tel you guys, I am terrified that this is all just a dream. When they all stopped laying for so long, I just gave up! I couldn't handle it! Now I am tripping all over myself trying to not do anything to upset the chickens. They get more of my time, more treats, more pie. I am even giving up my own food to offer to them!

Next step is bringing them into the house.

Ugh you are soo not kidding. I remember being eggless last winter for a bit too, so I am not as impatient this year.
But I sure hate store eggs. Even my dad was grumbling at brunch Sunday.
My quail are laying full tilt, 7 eggs a day. But they are in the heated garage.
I shut everyone up threatening to move the laying coop in the garage too

Its -6 degrees here right now, low expected -9 and I dont even want to look at the wind chill.
1 more month.... I can deal with the rain but tired of the cold!

C-M = Is it possible you missed an egg from the day before? The egg cycle takes 25 hrs to complete so it's unlikely you would get 2 within 1 day. Tho those with real life experience could tell you better. I'm still in the "wait it out mode" as my poor babies are only 13 weeks old.

Whoops - Congratulations!!!! Your cat sounds like mine... They would do the same thing! Except I don't have a dog yet so I'd just have a messy floor.

C-M, I'm with CLindz, although... with young layers, lots of oddities are possible... especially if one of the eggs is extra tiny... sometimes an egg will reverse on it's path, which is what can lead to double yolks, triple yolks and egg inside another egg... whatever did occur, congrats on the super count!

I have to keep my eggs in a basket, pushed far back against the wall. Hershey Cat will knock anything off of anything. plus he can open my drawers that are part of my bed frame. he opens them and pulls my socks and underwear out, scatters them all over the floor.

Not only that... Chester will take the egg basket, knock it to the floor and eat all of the eggs.
