Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I have 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Dominiques and 1 Rhode Island Red.
Only 1 of my Barred Rocks has started to lay. They are all the same age, so I'm waiting for the others... Any day now...

You will find that they are never boring. Hope your others start soon.

Yes, I have to admit that the Barred Rocks are my favorite out of my flock.
Their personality is friendly and calm, different from the rest, not to mention they are beautiful birds.

what a crazy weather pattern we are having! it did go up into the low 40's for about 2 hours, then the snow started and boy was it crazy! blowing up sometimes! then the temps tanked and fast! within about a half hour it went from 42 to 25... and then dropped all the way down to 15. but the storm is already over, when I finished my route, the clouds were disappearing and the skies were blue and bright and sunny... but the temp has only recovered to about 25... and still very windy. I forgot to stop at a couple of places on my way home, so it looks like I will be going back downtown later. still worth coming home rather than turning around - I have 7 Eggs so far... and the dogs drank all their water... and I can have a bite to eat... I got a pic of the sky on my way home, half clear, half stormy, if it came out, it should look cool.

SMF (SelfMadeFarming...) as much flack as we give our BR's on this thread, they are up there with my favorites too. Wilma isn't quite "calm" but she is very vocal and attention seeking, which I find amusing. Betty, on the other hand, is calm, sweet and a great layer. it was in my original plan to have Heritage BR's in Spring of this year. I still may, but with the prospect of having Pea Fowl from the local wildlife refuge... and someone else offering pheasant... I may have to wait longer as my available space will be taken. decisions decision... lol

I got 9 eggs today.... didn't get one of those mystery creams though. Since processing, I only have 21 chickens.... Know what that means? I am short at least 4! LOL... I see some Salmon Favs in my future! or maybe some LF cochins.... or maybe some Swedish flower hens.... or who knows maybe even a BR or two!
