I just went to check for eggs, and guess who's sitting??????????????????? Mama Peach hasn't laid an egg since 10/15/13! I"m thinking it's almost time to clean the snow out of the broody pen!

EIGHT

EIGHT.....Today We Laid EIGHT Eggs. 4 pullet eggs and 4 regular size eggs. I feel my first dozen egg day coming soon. 16 laying hens and a Roger. Should happen soon

it's eerie this morning, very windy, but mild at almost 22 degrees...

Cheeka there is about a 20-25° difference between what you and I consider mild! I have noticed that our temperatures are roughly that much of a difference daily.

It was so nice going out this morning. I think we were at 32. The water wasn't frozen (almost empty... but not frozen).

I had some crazy dreams about chickens and egg laying last night. It felt so real I was really confused. I was getting many more eggs than I should and they were more like faberge than normal eggs. To top it off the chickens were living inside in a bedroom.

I guess I'm totally nuts with Chickens!

Ha ha! That is too funny! I think we all understand though. Those dreams happen.
Really bad weather right now. If I can make it to Thursday, I will be happy. The highs will even go above freezing the week between this Thursday and next !! Lows will be in the teens, but that is so much better than it has been, and will be the next few days!

we've had a temp spike in the last 2 hours... it's 40*! but the real feel is 32* - it's still quite windy... and we're going to get snow! have a great day everyone!

I have 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Dominiques and 1 Rhode Island Red.
Only 1 of my Barred Rocks has started to lay. They are all the same age, so I'm waiting for the others... Any day now...
