Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

In NC! Had a smooth trip!!! Pictures tomorrow hopefully!
Woohoo! Have a great time!

W4W, I don't expect him to cover them all... just the ones I choose. for now, he's delighted to be living with the Foster girls. he's good, if a hen/pullet doesn't squat for him, he moves on... although most do squat. I don't really intend to hatch any Foster eggs... I don't get many - didn't get any today... I'll work on setting up a breeding section this weekend, if I don't have a stomach bug (I think I do tho'... I do not feel well) I need to get it done tho' if I want hatching eggs by the second week of Feb...

only 3 Eggs here today. Sillie was so cute but continually photobombed.- glad this shot came out...

She is too precious! Looks just like my lil Fluff! She isn't laying yet, hope someday soon!
Fluff was an early july baby.
when do silkies start lay?
like forever LOL!

Janet, we'll have to keep track when your Fluff lays, Sillie is an early August baby, so I'll hope for her first about a month after you get yours! and that's great that you NN healed up! they sure are resilient with good care... between Peach and Olive, I've seen some really gross wounds. Peach freaked me out so bad, I had never seen such a horrible gaping wound, thought she would surely die. it took quite a while, but it's like it never happened... Olive too... her head dropped open like a hole in pantyhose. then she got that weird tendonitis or whatever and couldn't walk for like 6 weeks. I thought for certain she was a goner. nope! they've become my favorite animal...

Sillie is so cool. What a rock star! Every time I see her I keep thinking maybe I should get one.
Silkies, the Un-Chicken.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.

Beautiful picture Lindz!!!!

Cheeka- take care of yourself! If anyone needs a bit of pampering when they feel yucky it's you.

Going away is great. I woke up at 7:30 and thought how nice it was to not have to bundle up to go outside. It's also FABULOUS to not have a cat crawling on my head (that wasn't a random pic the other day....he literally sleeps on my head every night).

And then I saw on FB from the girl who is staying at my house "up before the sun...." My chickies are early risers and she wasn't able to come til after they were prob asleep last night some I'm relieved that she was out there early enough to have fresh water when they wake.

I had a cat that would curl up in my arms and purr me to sleep every night for 16 years. Then, being a cat she would wake several times a night, dab at my face with her paw until I started awake and lifted my head, then curl up in the warm spot on the pillow. I would fall back asleep with my head resting on a purring pillow, but, unconsciously, I was worried about crushing her, so my neck muscles would tighten and I would wake with horrible cricks in my neck.

She was a sweet cat, though. Really loved to be cuddled and held. Bitey Kitty isn't into that mushy stuff.

Oh and
