More snow here to but nothing like what you're getting Cheeka! We seem to be on the line of all these storms so we've been getting rain too! Another cold day and then it should warm up some.

Chickies are doing well! Gotta get some more pics! They are getting so big! I just started giving them some treats. They go crazy for mealworms...

Hubby got me an egg basket and treats for the girls for valentines day!!! I loved it. I love presents and always say that it doesn't matter the cost but the thought. I loved my egg basket better than I would have any jewelry of chocolate.

Puppy comes in 2 weeks!!! Yikes totally not ready. Gotta get a crate as the one I have will be full of teenage chicks!

Big girls have started getting left over scraps. We went out for breakfast today and I was slightly embarrassed at the total pile of mush I brought home... But the girs loved it!!!!

I been getting around seven eggs a day from my new layers (4) BR's and (4) Delaware hens. Also in with that group of eight hens is RK Broody and Little BO. Seven out of ten eggs from this group today and yesterday. Most are smaller eggs so I know they are coming from the young birds. In the other department there are the 4 older Golden Comets, Little Roger, Big Broody BO, and of course the Devil..aka....Roger. Out of this group I have got four eggs each day the last couple days. I think the Comets are slowing down now being over two years old. In their younger days they were good for a egg each almost every day. Little Roger (RIR) lays good and Big Broody (BO) about every other day. My RIR rooster is with this group. Roger eats a PIE a day.....all the scratch she can grab.....about two pounds of layer a day and laid a egg the day after Thanksgiving. Roger says she is due again July 27th. Please do not send gifts to her "shower". Another one of her scams.

I am in shock!!!!!!

The Comet girls laid 3 eggs today...... 3..... That is the least amount they have laid since they started!!!!!! I got a total of 7 today. I'd better have a big # tomorrow or all treats will be on hold! Maybe.....

I went to TSC and got a galvanized trash can. It was on sale for $20, so I was pretty happy. Maybe now, I can keep the squirrels and other critters out of the feed. Hubby says we may work on the new coop tomorrow. I also need to go up the mountain to my g.aunt's house for a little while too. It also depends on how we feel, cause I think we are both trying to get a cold. Fun times...

I am very excited! Tomorrow morning we are driving down to the east bay (east of Oakland) to get..... drum roll please..... bantam Cochins!!!!

I met Chooklet at the big show in Stockton last month hoping to buy some then, but she had sold out. There will be more birds to choose from at her place, so it's a good deal, all kinds of unique and pretty colors that don't fit in with her breeding project. Practically guaranteed to go broody, so I can skip the incubator. Woohoo! Trying to limit myself. The bantam coop is small. We'll have to see how much will power I can muster when faced with the darlin' little round fluff balls.

7 eggs today! and one egglet from the Seramas. Guess yesterday really was hump day for them, as they shifted laying from late afternoon to morning.

We are expected to get a bit more rain over night; it's already started. We're at about 30% of normal rain-wise, some areas much worse, but every little bit helps. Temps have been in the upper 50s days and upper 40s at night, which is confusing some of the fruit trees. Not expecting a great crop from the crazy plums.

Hope one of my Cochins is as good a mama as Peach! We'll have Seramas coming out of our ears in no time!

YAY!!!!! Cochins are the absolute best in my opinion! I'm hoping my 2 girls are as broody as Clarabelle was! I'm jealous that you get to pick from all the gorgeous colors! You know that we expect pictures! Be safe on the way to get your new fluffy butts!
