Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

GRRRRR........ I think I said something a little bit ago about getting some bottle baby goats.... well, Hubby talked to his buddy who has a goat dairy and so far he has had a set of triplets born with 2 of them still born and a set of twins born. All 5 were does, and out of the 5, only 2 are still alive. The guy has hogs, and one of the hogs killed one of the baby goats. He is expecting more over the next few weeks, so we will see what happens there. I have also been looking elsewhere just in case, and found 2 more really close by. I called the lady last night and she said that there was supposed to be someone coming after them today but she would let me know. Well, at lunch she called me and told me that they had car trouble and weren't going to get them. I told her I would probably get them, but would let her know for sure when Hubby got home. She just texted me and told me that she had sold them. UGH!!!

I think we are just going to wait and see what Hubby's friend ends up having... if he doesn't have any this year, we will just work on fencing this summer and get some next spring I guess.....

Something amazing is happening. Torrents of water are falling from the sky. I have a distant memory of such a thing and believe it is called rain.

Good heavens. Think I have blue prints for an ark around here somewhere...

Chicken Steve, glad your layer is back to normal.

Chicken-Man, congrats on your Silkie egg. Very eggciting.

The black Silkie (with the turtle neck) I posted a few pages ago is a hen. She is supposed to be a frequent broody. We'll see.

I hear that the Golden State is going to get copious amounts of rain. Good news!

I hope that the flooding is at minimal levels. But..... you do need the water.

Delilah revealed what was in the store bought coop nest...

these were waiting in the apple coop

plus 2 in the Fosters nest, which I neglected to photograph... 14 Eggs today! seeing as how it generally goes up and down every other day... maybe tomorrow I'll get 16 or more...

it's cold, staying cold, going to get colder... and we've got a few inches (at least) of snow coming between Sunday and Monday. Glad the west is getting rain, but the flooding is looking scary! Hopefully you stay out of the flood zone W4W!

Chicken-Steve, glad the shell situation firmed up!

Chicken Man... I'm jealous... I have all these gorgeous eggs, but no Silkie egg yet... and she's near on 8 months old at this point!

CLindz - that pup is so beautiful! he looks exceptionally fluffy and healthy!

it'll work out... and you'll be ready!

scrambles - it takes a bit of time for the pullet to work out their "plumbing", but once they get going, they should lay roughly the same size, shape and color egg... they get a bit paler as they get older... it certainly is fun pinning down who lays what!

I'm so hungry... it's ridiculous. my stomach is growling so loud that Chester just came over and looked at my gut like "what's in there?"

I guess what I was trying to say is.... My BSL and RIR lay real orange yolks. Round and tall. Si, my EE pullets lays a lighter colored yolk. I am not real sure of the other EE pullet. I will crack one open in the morning. She is a new layer.
