Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

and I have fastidiously avoided all feed stores and chains like agway and tsc, so I do not know how much anything is. the place I buy my feed won't have chicks til April, and I'll know if I need to buy any or if Peach will brood...

How much trouble do you think I'm gonna be?

Is it possible he's housebroken already? I know I know I just jinxed myself. But second night and no accidents. Every time it take him out he does his business right away.

I don't know if it's the breed, if I'm just lucky or if he's still just stressed and mellow but he is a great puppy!!! Of course he was eyeing up my shoe just now so I think the honeymoon phase will end sometime in the near future.

He's seen the chickens but they run inside as soon as he comes over. Need to start socializing him w them... But more snow tonight into tomorrow! Yeah! Lucky us!!!!

CLindz, gracious he's gorgeous...so sweet. I think you're fortunate that he is settling into the routine nicely. sure to have accidents and the occasional naughty something or other... but keep that routine going and he'll train up beautifully! it's perfectly normal, and actually good that the chickens run away from him now. they don't know him yet. it takes a couple of days to weeks, depending on how much time you have to work with them all together... Chester came here knowing chickens from his previous home. he ignored them from the beginning, but wow did they squawk and run! and I will never forget Broody Peach tearing out of the lilac where she was having dust bathing lessons - to repeatedly attack poor Chester! she's scary for such a tiny chicken! and beautiful... swinging her wings, puffing up and charging... since he had no interest in chasing any of them, it only took about 10 days maybe before they ignored him too. he's not a LGD, but he still provides protection with his presence. Rawley will do great! it's in his nature... and soon, you'll get some really great pics of the chickens sitting with him, and on him...

just stay a step ahead, when you see him eyeing your shoe, tell him in a gentle tone noooooooooo, and give him his toy/bone/chewy... because you're taking him to pee and poo regularly, you are already that step ahead of accidents... he'll learn very quickly to signal when he's gotta go.

you and lindz, with her sweet Ratchet... so lucky, even tho' pups are exhausting... they are so much fun... Chester seemed to have a period of regression after he'd been here for a while. he reverted to a lot of "puppy-like" behavior. no accidents... and he chewed his own stuff... it was how he played ~ belly up, feet everywhere, being mouthy... I don't think he ever was played with much, and while the second family tried to show him love... they claimed he "doesn't play with toys" and then they simply forgot about him. He is changing so much under my care. he's (of course) never forgotten here. cherished and loved...and he LOVES his toys and bones! having always been a "Pug person", I'm amazed at how much I adore him...of course, I knew I would love him... but wow! our bond is deeper than I would have guessed it could have been.

time to move my butt... go care for the flockers...I'm late

Rawley is over the top on the cuteness scale!! Get him a "kong" and put treats in it. It will satisfy his urge to chew when he begins the teething stage and teenage destruction stage.

We got about 2-3 inches of light fluffy snow last night. I will be glad when my DH gets home. It is rough to be sick... have a sick dog and deal with sub zero temps and snow.

One more cup of coffee and off I go to tackle the day. Making dog food, flock block, shopping and shoveling snow. HAPPY SUNDAY!!!!!

omg, I am such a dunce! I should have been out early. I forgot that I put the pool of dirt n the dome... and by the time I got out there, it was evident that the entire Dome flock had made good use of it! everyone was returned to their glory - super shiny and fluffed... I'm bummed I missed it. super happy tho' - they all look amazing! 5 Eggs so far and lots of activity in and out of the nesting areas...

sorry Scarmbles - I don't eat a lot of pot roast, and don't really have a "recipe", I dump it all in the slow cooker, water and meat first...at least an hour or more depending on if it's whole or cubed... then I add the veg and spices later on (carrots, onions, sometimes peas, garlic...), taters last so they don't disintegrate, add a bay leaf... that's it...

Scrambles, you really need t try huffing the Vet Rx!

When my mother was pregnant with my oldest sister, the dog got pregnant too. My mother said she would get sick, and clean herself up, then turn around to clean up another mess because the dog was also in the bathroom getting sick.
My pot roast is put the roast in the crock pot on low (oven at 275) add water to almost cover the meat, add 2 (3 if the roast is large) beef bullion cubes, 2 medium potatoes, an onion or two quartered, and placed in the corners, and a half a bag of baby carrots (one bag for a large roast). I let it cook for 8 - 10 hours. My potatoes are soft, but I have never had mushy potatoes. If I only have 4-6 hours, I start with the crock pot on high for an hour or two, the oven at 350*

My Demon Puppy (Sekhmet) came potty trained at 8 weeks. Breeders have learned a lot about potty boxes and exposing them to different surfaces that can really help with getting the puppies on the right track.

You two with Rawley and Ratchet are giving me puppy fever! Gosh, they are cute. It doesn't help that I *want* a cattlemonster.
