Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

How much trouble do you think I'm gonna be?

Oh goodness! Based on that pic, you are in deep trouble. Maybe not quite to the Roger level of trouble, but that is one adorable pup!

Seriously CLindz, when you look at the set of the ears and his eyes, he is alert and submissive (friend of my sister's is a trainer and wrote a book about this). He is awaiting your leadership, a born follower, and as long as you keep up the training, you will have a very large sweet and loyal companion.

A little off subject, but.... does anyone have a really good pot roast recipe? Slow cooker or oven.

Oh we just stick ours in the crock pot the night before we want to eat it for dinner. At times I've put a packet of ranch salad dressing (the dry mix stuff) and maybe a bit of water. I would do that if I were planning to eat it as is. Most of the time when it's done, we just pull it apart with a fork and add BBQ sauce and eat it that way. If we eat it "as is" we will also throw some carrots and potatoes in for the last few hours of cooking. All very imprecise. We just kinda go with it and it's awesome.

We get ribs from the store and do the same thing. Toss them in the ol' CP the night before we intend to eat them with a squirt of BBQ sauce and they are wonderful the next day at dinner. Slide right off the bone. Mmmmmmmm.

Did you guys know that you can train for the summer olympics (a swimming event, I assume) inside an egg? Apparently it's true. In spite of my vow to keep my hands out the bator, it needed water today. My basement is really dry by design so even though I am keeping the humidity fairly low according to the dry incubation method, I still need to put some in there. Anyway, while I was in there I called my 6 year old down to candle a couple quick. We were treated to a couple of extremely active little pippers! I am quite sure they are training for the 400 yds freestyle. The kid was impressed. Heck, I'm kind of impressed. Way to go little pippers! They just finished their 7th day and are starting on their 8th. On day 10 I am planning on candling everyone. Last time I candled them all I found 2 I thought were infertile and one quitter but I let them so I'll know for sure by day 10 and those can be tossed. I'm not sure if I have the stomach for an eggtopsy. I'm afraid it'll smell or something. The quitter appears to have quit around day 3 so by then it will have been dead for a week. Seems like there won't be much to see by then even if it doesn't stink.

I know people are super into hatching like to eggtopsy their eggs that made it to lockdown but didn't hatch but I don't think I want to see a fully formed chick that was right on the doorstep of life and just didn't make it. Awwwww

. Guess we'll see when the time comes.

Just look at Josephine the Black Cochin EE!! amazing what dirt does for feathers.

Sillie Soo is all poofy again too! she was looking a bit bedraggled...

a roostful of EE's preening after their baths... they look so bright!

Cheeka they are beautiful birds. I put a dirt bath in the coop but mine don't use it. I find holes in the litter that look like they had a chicken roll or two.

Scrambles- feel better!!! It is awful when you get sick and still have life to deal with.

I'm taking a nap cause I've been on doggie duty both nights. He's really good in the crate as long as he knows your around. We did have an accident in it today while I was at church. But his poops are a little off and you can tell he's just starting to get regular again after the transition. So a bath and some laundry first.

We don't have to crate him yet during the day. He's still a little unsure about walking around the house so he keeps to his one corner. Make sit easy. He put himself down for a nap!

Thanks all for the pot roast tips. I think that I will try some cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, red potatoes, onion and carrots. DH is coming home tomorrow and would like to have a nice dinner waiting for him. Got some stuff done today. Shopping, dog food is cooking, 4 loads of wood hauled in, chicken water taken care of, litter boxes clean, laundry done and chicken thighs cooking for me.
