Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

OK, these are the mushrooms my hubs was looking for. This was all he could find, and they are a little beat up and waterlogged, but you can get the general idea. Last two years have been terrible for shrooming. Still on the look out for the elusive morel.

we have had a lot of wind here to, got 18 eggs today dh said he was going to get 3 more hens to make an even 30, so i guess when we go to the farm to pick up meat we will get from him.
Makes perfect sense to me!

Ok I officially hate the last 3 days of incubation. I stare into the bator hoping to catch them moving but they just sit there. For all I know, I am lovingly incubating lifeless rocks. At least before day 16 or so I could see them moving when I candled them. Now it's just wait and see. And I hate wait and see.
Its really hard to wait. Main thing, do not open the incubator!

So not kidding it will harm the chicks.
Let them be, and keep unhatched eggs 5 days beyond the hatch date if they have no odor.

We had some terrible wind too. Not used to it here. Blew over some big things. Took the boys to school in the morning and just about died when I saw how close this came to hubby's car.

The base is filled with water and is very heavy so never considered it could tip. Oddly, hubs usually parks lengthwise next to the hoop pole. The car would have been totally t-boned! This is the car that had the run-in with the deer not so long ago and had major repairs. Starting to think we need to get rid of it; it seems to attract bad things. Bad karma maybe.

Bent the rim too.

Luckily, the dopey little windmill has been staked after tipping over a few years ago (and barely missing a different car).
UGH glad it didn't harm anything. The winds from that last storm snapped one of our maples, so we have to cut it down.

I don't want to mess with them, I just want them to hatch already.

Its very frustrating. But just wait it out some are late bloomers.

Welcome, Vintagegem. I can't stop laughing! OMG, that mental image of OK!

They seen to grow around dead/fallen fruit trees.
FIL said people get down right mean over them.. oh my!
Neat looking mushrooms, WFW.

You know...I bet the mystery chicks have some barred rock in them. I won't be surprised at all if they are.

I can't remember but who ever it is that has BCM and waiting, my hens are finally laying! My first egg was the 9th.
It was very soft shelled so I didn't set it, I actually broke the shell picking it up. I put oyster shell in the coop to help my girls.
No eggs since

I have 5 bcm and 2 of the golden cuckoo maran hatched from a breeders eggs.
Cant wait to see if i have any roos! I usually have all hens

I'm on my phone so I can't quote. But I have no idea what kind of chicks the white ones are. I'm leaning toward California whites since they have the random black spots. But really I have no idea.

Me and clindz are the ones waiting for our BCMS to lay. How old were your girls? I think mine are going to hold out forever!

That bb goal was really close! Yikes!
Loved that poem! Thanks for reminding us about it! Welcome to the thread! W4W is right. The people here are amazing!
Cheeka I hope you are feeling better today.
Mortie good thing come to those who wait!

mortie, hands off! important to leave them be from this point on to hatch. can't wait to see pics of new babies!

W4W, those mushrooms are beautiful!
they train postal carriers who drive the LLV"s (white postal delivery trucks) to deal with those basketball hoops. there is one on the training course, sometimes it's tipped over... because those trucks are 7' wide with limited windows... you have to "square up" so you can see, otherwise you'd be turning blind and there could be someone coming alongside... I drive a POV on my route (personally owned vehicle - nice acronym for I drive my own car...) but I'm certified for LLV and do drive them in other towns, anyway, there is one of those on my route, filled with sand and it's often blown over, so glad it didn't scratch, dent or worse to your hubby's car! someone else on my route filled his kids bb base with concrete. doesn't move at all.

JC, good luck figuring out which one is your egg eater! so discouraging...

Vintagegem,
