, I love making variations on it. You can use lots of different kinds of veggies.

Poor George. Yesterday, I left them all locked up in the run. Today, after work, I let them out, but left the grow out coop she likes to hide in locked up. She saw the open coop door in the big girls' coop, made a dash for the grow out coop, but was thwarted. However, I saw her willingly within a few feet of the flock already, so I have some hope she is adapting. She now seems more leery of me than them.

Progress! It may be baby steps, but she is beginning to adapt.

I need those eggs to hatch and reach POL. I think that with these eggs, I should get 50-50 Lavender to Black chicks. I want to keep one Lav and sneak in a RSL and/or BSL chick the next day. DH will never know..... teehee ............................

I made a scrambled egg Pie today, using the dirtiest eggs one could ever collect! I should have taken a picture of them... muddy, foot streaked, poopy, bits and clumps of straw cemented to them. the store bought coop's nest got wet on one side, so of course, they laid a whole bunch in that muck...

bantam Maran's Esther is acting broody-ish. extended periods of time sitting, growling and she pecked me good tonight when I wanted to feel under her. if she's serious, I'll set her up with eggs. the broody pen has melted down to a thin layer of ice on the ground which should melt tonight or by Sunday. I can have it ready in a jiffy after that...

15 Eggs today - 7/10 from the Fosters, 8/28 from the Dome. I expected more. oh well... the Maran's eggs have been a little paler than I'm used to seeing - I'm guessing they need some green grass and good fodder!
